Stretching Your Stamps With Selective Inking

Hi there everyone and a very happy Thursday to you!

I have been feeling a little out of practice with my no-line pencil colouring but when I saw the flowers on the cake of Concord & 9th 'Happy Day' I just knew I had to give it a go again.

I started by drawing a circle in pencil with a die that I would use to cut parts of it later. I then selectively inked the top flower portion and stamped it in a light grey ink on the top of the guide circle and then selectively inked the bottom flowers in the same light grey ink and stamped this at the bottom of the circle. I then used Polychromos pencils to colour in the image- it did take a little time but I find this very relaxing.

Once the images were coloured I put the die back over into position and did some partial die-cutting on the parts of the circle that had no flowers. Then I cut around the edge of the flowers up to the die-cutting.

For the sentiment I die cut the 'beautiful' from Concord & 9th 'Beautiful You' die set. I added some to the sentiment using the same stamp set as before.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again next week!

Hugs, Lydia x

Make Your Sentiment 'Pop' With A White Pen

Hi there everyone! Lydia here with you this morning. Here in North Wales the weather is pretty dismal, so if the weather where you are is the same I have a card that will hopefully brighten your day a little.

Concord & 9th 'Wildflower' set reminds me of more tropical florals so I decided to stamp like a jumgle-y type scene to frame my sentiment.

I stamped and masked my flowers to get the clusters that I wanted. I then coloured them with Copics and added a little shading to the larger flowers using pencils.

For the sentiment I used Concord & 9th 'Beautiful You' dies cut from black card. Where the sentiment overlapped the image I took a white gel pen and went around the letters covering over the image, this helps the sentiment 'pop' more and not get lost in the busy image.

I hope you feel a little brighter after this and try using a white gel pen to get your sentiment to stand out from the background.

Watercolour & Gold

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! Lydia here with you and I'm so happy you stopped by.

Today I have a watercolour and gold creation to share.

When I saw the cute little whimsy flowers in My Favorite Things 'Pretty Posies' set I knew I had to have it!

I started with a piece of watercolour card and stamped and embossed the flowers and leaves in white. I had the floral images more concentrated at the top and fewer 'floating' down.

Once the embossing was cool I added a wash over and around the flowers using pinks and orange- I kept this quite light as I wanted the flowers to stand out more. When the wash was dry I added more of the same colours to the flowers and I just love the look this gives.

I then waited for it to dry before adding drops of 2 way glue around the flowers, I waited for this to go clear before adding some foil on top- yay... gold foil studs! For some added gold to the background I added some gold splatters.

For some added detail I used the stitched line from Mama Elephant 'Fine Trimmings' around the edges of the piece of watercolour card.

For the sentiment I used Concord & 9th 'Beautiful You' die set, I cut the 'beautiful' out of gold card, and it looks amazing. I finished the sentiment off using a 'you are' embossed in gold on a strip of vellum from Altenew 'Thinking Of You'.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
