How are you Feline?

Sending a card brings pleasure to any recipient but especially if they are feeling under the weather and today's card is purrfect for that. Okay, enough with the cat puns but I couldn't resist when I masked this curled up cat into the comfy armchair from the Hello Stampurr set by Waffleflower...

I decided to use my Inktense Pencils to colour the images, they work quite well on Bristol card stock and the green colour wash in the background is watercolour paint. I used a scalloped frame to cut the image to a square and then cut a couple more in cream card to layer under the frame.

The sentiment is from a Paper Smooches set called Critter Card Puns, I had to mask the stamp so I could stack the sentiment. I used a square card blank and decided to change the colour by blending Hickory Smoke then Pumice Stone Distress Oxides around the edges... it's a great way to get a custom coloured background. I added texture by dampening a background stamp and applying it to the card base, the water reacts with the oxide ink and gives a slight pattern.

I've used the MFT scalloped frames which are currently oos but Lawn Fawn
have a great alternative which I've linked below

Love is in the Air.... Toadally!

Hello, Jenny here on this rather chilly Monday morning....
hopefully spreading some warmth with this little guy and his heart shaped balloons...

Yes, I had this little toad all coloured up from my card last week but unfortunately
the pond was too full for him so he got a card all of his own! His one arm/front leg raised up
made me think of him holding balloons and the floating toad idea was hatched.

I blended blue ink onto half of a card stock panel and added a few splatters of water
for some texture. The balloons are cut in white card, coloured with markers
and then arranged into a cluster which makes adhering them to the panel easier.

I used the 'Toadally' word from a Paper Smooches set and masked part of a
sentiment from the frog/toad stamp set for the 'Love You'..... love the mix of fonts.

Just a heads up to say that both the Paper Smooches cloud dies and sentiment set I
used are in the sale... links below :)

Raising the Woof!!

Hello, Jenny here.... I think we're on the third day of a mini heatwave here in the UK and I for one am flagging!!!

Anyhow, onto today's card. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the animal card dies from Paper Smooches a few weeks back and it seems you all loved them too as they sold out quite quickly, but are now back in stock :)
I had to have a play with the Dog and Cat dies first being a total dog lover and I came up with this rather fun Husky type dog....

I would advise that you cut all the dies apart in these sets and then cut all the pieces in some thin scrap card so you can play with the shapes and see how they all work together... you can mix and match to make different faces or even animals!

I have cut various parts in different coloured card including two sets of ears in brown and white then free-hand cut the brown patches for the ears. When I had arranged the facial features I felt the ears, nose, tongue and eyes needed some extra detail so I used Polychrome pencils to do that.

The sentiment comes from the stamp set that's designed to work with the dies but I wanted to emphasise the pun part so I used the Well Connected alpha for the word WOOF! I have left the inside blank for now so I can add a suitable sentiment for any occasion I use it for ;)

I love his big happy face.... a sort of doggy selfie!! Lol

Thanks for stopping by today, see you next week :)
