Monster Sized Birthday

Today I’m sharing a fun birthday card, featuring the MFT Monster Sized stamp set.

I began by stamping one of the monster images, colouring it with alcohol markers, then cutting it out with the coordinating die

For the background, I die cut a white card panel with the the largest die from the MFT Mod Rectangles set. I then ran this panel through my die cutting machine again, this time with the Reverse Confetti Diagonal Stitched cover panel. I added the panel to a white card base with liquid glue.

Next, I used my paper trimmer to cut a rectangle of blue grid patterned paper. I layered this onto my card base with liquid glue.

On some black card, I white heat embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set, then cut it out with a MFT sentiment strip die.

I layered the sentiment strip onto my card with black foam tape, then added the monster image to the side. I finished by adhering some enamel dots around the sentiment, and adding glossy accents to the monster's eyes.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

New Year Birthday

My birthday card making mission continues today to ensure I have cards for all the new year birthdays in my life and for this one, I am using a new year stamp to boot.

I used Newton's New Year and stamped him onto the circle that comes out of the middle of the MFT Happy Birthday Circle die so that I could ensure the image would fit in the sentiment circle.  I used 3 shades of oxide inks and a small make-up blending brush to get a graduated shading effect to the sentiment after die cutting.

I coloured newton with kuretake kurecolor alcohol markers, which as we can no longer get Kuretake in the UK, have been reduced by 50% in our clearance section if you're looking for a bargain.  To get some realism on the bottle I added some tiny touches of gold foil to the bottle using gold gilding flakes.

The textured square was created using the new Diagonal Stitched Cover Panel die from Reverse confetti but after the first cut I did a quarter turn of my paper and ran it back through the machine to get a different pattern.

Lots of Hearts

I'm getting all lovey-dovey on the blog today with a couple of heart themed cards that would work well for valentines or other occassions when you need to express your love like an anniversary or just to tell someone you love them, something we should all do more often!  I actually made the first for my hubby as yesterday was our 24th dateiversary - we were together for many years before we tied the knot so we decided to keep celebrating our first date so a little like the Queen and birthdays we have two anniversaries a year now!

I used the fabulous new Hearts Entwined die from MFT and die cut it a couple of times from white card backed with stick-it which is just perfect for glueing down intricate dies like this.   On the top layer I actually applied a layer of stick-it to both the back and front of the card stock before die cutting so I could then use the glue on top to gild the hearts using a mixture of gold and copper gilding flakes.

As this was an anniversary card I selected a pair of the entwined hearts and filled them in with red and ab glitter to signify the joining together of the two of us and then finished with a sentiment from Sweet Nothings embossed in red on vellum to avoid obsucuring the hearts underneath.

For the second card I wanted to play with hearts again but wanted to arrange them myself so opted for the lots of hearts and lots of hearts outline dies again from the latest MFT release.  They match with each other so can be layered or used independently.

I inked up a couple of scraps of white card using reds and oranges and oranges and yellows to get some shading before die cutting.  I wanted some simple background pattern so used the fabulous new Diagonal Stitched Cover Panel die from Reverse Confetti and arranged the hearts around a sentiment again from Sweet Nothings stamped directly onto it.  Finished with a few dots of liquid pearls for more texture and backed onto a card made using Canned Pumpkin cardstock from Lawn Fawn.

That's all from me today - hope I sparked your romantic side.
