Little Agenda Frame Border

Today I’m sharing a happy Mama Elephant Little Agenda card.

I wanted to use the Little Agenda Frames to create a border edge on a card. I began by stamping the frames and some of the cute Little Agenda animals within them. I masked the edges of the frame when stamping the animals, so they look like photos inside the frames. I coloured the images with alcohol markers, then die cut the frames with the coordinating dies.

I arranged the frames on a card base so they spanned the height of a card, then temporarily adhered them together at the front with some post-it note tape. I flipped the frames over and added some Lawn Fawn glue tube adhesive to adhere them together properly where they overlap. Once dry, I removed the post-it tape.

On the card base, I added a strip of patterned paper on the right hand edge. I then got another piece of white card, narrower than my card base. I stamped a greeting from the Little Agenda Frames stamp set, then adhered the frames along the edge.

To finish, I added this piece to the card base with foam sheet. This gives some dimension from the background, helping the frames edge to stand out.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Brain Freeze

Good morning crafters, Jenny here on another hot Monday in the south East!!!

Here's a card to cool you down.... must be the heat that had me reaching for this set and its fun sentiment..

I thought I'd keep to soft pastel colours and water colour the ice cream from this Reverse Confetti stamp set. I coloured each piece separately and then put them altogether. Anyone for a raspberry ripple cone???

To pick out the colours I had used, I decided to watercolour stripes with distress inks between two strips of masking tape on a piece of cardstock. I had to be patient and let each colour dry so they wouldn't run in together and when it was all dry I added narrow lines with less dilute distress ink.

I cut two panels with rounded rectangle dies and added the sentiment ....a few tone on tone sparkles on the card base and my card was done.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Rosie and Bernie

I have a special 7 card pull out and keep feature in this months issue of Paper Crafts Essentials (Issue 163) so I thought I'd do another card today featuring them again as I just adore them and they can be used to make such cute scenes.

So for my card today I opted to go for a tropical scene with Rosie and Bernie in Hawaii paired with Rosie and Bernie's Palm Tree and the new sand embossing powder from Hero Arts (which will be in store tomorrow).

I started by stamping Rosie and Bernie, stamping again onto a mask so I could pop the tree behind them and them masking off the tree so I could ink up the background using oxide inks and an ink blender.  This is really useful technique if you want to add large backgrounds to coloured images - much quicker than doing it with pencils and for markers it can use so much ink so this is much more cost effective!   (I actually took a shot before I added more colour as I quite liked the look of the black and white image with the inked background)

The images were coloured with pencils and then I used an embossing pen to add areas of sand for texture.  The particles in the embossing powder (particularly the darker brown ones) are quite large so it helps to heat it from underneath as otherwise it all blows away before it melts!  A simple cheers sentiment, Hawain style of course, seemed the most appropriate given the setting and the cocktails.  Take me to the beach........

Lucky Envelope

Hey stampers, Anni here!

When I was on vacation I met my sister and her family. My three nephews had birthday in spring. I haven't seen them for a long time so they didn't get their birthday presents yet. Besides some other presents the main gift was money (what else to give to teenage boys?). To personalize it a bit more I decide to create envelopes for the money.

Mama Elephant's Lucky Envelope is acually a gift card holder but it works for money just as well. I die cut the envelope from white white cardstock, added ink blending in turquoise and some water droplets to achieve the bleached effect.

For the decoration I used Newton's Nook's Cocktail Mixer (for the older twins turning 17) and Waffle Flower's Sweet Ice Cream (for the younger one turning 14). I stamped, coloured in and fussy cut the images.

Then I stamped a sentiment on all the envelopes and assembled them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.
Anni

Friday Florals

I'm back again - sorry you'll be fed up of me already - but we will have some new blood on the blog soon.

Today I've got a couple of floral numbers to share using AlteNew's Life is Awesome set - its been ages since I've played with florals but this set really appealed to me as it is so versatile which is how I have two completely different looks from the same set to share today.  It's a really clever set as they have added labels to each floral element (A1, A2, A3 etc) and drawn lines around them to group them so it makes working the layers easy peasy!  You just select a letter, start with 1 and your palest ink and work your way up to 4 with the darkest (or sometimes 4 is a green)

Firstly I have a super CAS floral arrangement.  I was actually intent on creating an arrangement surrounded by a frame so I drew around the inside of the die and stamped around the oval, masking as I went.  I used Tea Party, Pocketful of Sunshine, Warm and Cozy, Shades of Purple and Tropical Forest ink sets all from AlteNew - perfect for their layering stamps as most have 4 layers to match the 4 colours in each set.  However once I'd finished I decided I preferred the look without the frame, so I added some extra stamping to neaten up the edge that would have been hidden and finished with a sentiment from Anything But Basic Birthday wishes (two stamps cut apart to get the Happy Birthday I wanted)

For the second card I decided to use the oval burst frame from my original idea so I just picked the two large lily stamps and layered them up all over the oval in yellows and oranges, masking as required, and then in-filled with leaves.  I actually missed a birthday this week so decided to turn it into a belated-card using a sentiment from Newton's Nooks Birthday Essentials stamped boldly over the floral pattern.

There really is no end to the possibilities with this set - so time to turn florist and get building arrangements.  Its well sized to match lot of other floral sets (not just from AlteNew but the Wplus9 sets would work too) so there are even more possibilities to mix n match!

See you on Sunday....

Textured Botanicals

You've got to put up with me again today as Taheerah isn't quite ready to make a return so I have a last minute make to share with the new 3D texture folders from Tim Holtz and Sizzix.  This is the Botanical one, we have just two at the minute but more to follow...

It is REALLY IMPORTANT to follow the sandwich instructions.  These folders are MUCH THICKER than a standard embossing folder and if you don't adjust the sandwich you WILL break your machine (I know cos I nearly did!)  For the big shot you place the folder directly on Tab 1 without a cutting plate underneath and just one cutting plate on top.........

You can see the texture is really crisp and there are 3 layers to it so more fine details within each leaf and flower than a normal folder.

I simply ran the folder through with some kraft sandwiched in between and then added colour using distress crayons as the layers of texture the folder provides make adding colour this way super easy.

I used the green from set 2 for the leaves, red, orange and yellow (also set 2) for the flowers and then highlighted the tips with white from set 3.

To turn the panel into a card I cut it and separated it and used the same red orange and yellow crayons on the base card to blend an ombre background.   The Sentiment (MFT Essentials) was stamped in black onto a kraft strip that I blended with the green crayon before stamping.   Quick, tonal but looks like you spent ages!

That's all from me, until tomorrow when you get me again!

Canine Birthday Wishes

Hello, Tallie here, and a happy Wednesday to you!
Today I have a card featuring a couple of Mama Elephant sets: The Dog’s Woof and Scripty Bday. I needed some down time and the heat made it difficult to stay upstairs in my craft room, so this card features lots of alcohol marking colouring!

On some white blending cardstock I stamped out the Mama Elephant The Dog’s Woof stamp in some MFT Extreme Black Hybrid Ink. Since I was stamping onto an A6 panel, I created a mask with some Post-It Notes and stamped again so there were more doggies and the card was two-thirds filled.

I then took out my alcohol markers, sat in front of the TV and coloured me a doggie rainbow using many different colours of marker: E, W, C and Rs for the ears and tongues. I especially love the cutie in the top right corner with his tongue lolling out! I kept it simple with the background using just two BG markers.
The colouring speaks for itself so I kept the sentiment simple, using the ‘birthday wishes’ stamp from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday set.

This is a great way to make cards out of your Copic colouring practices. The Mama Elephant sets like this (the catssnowmen and bunnies) are perfect for some colouring time.
Thanks for reading, catch you next week.
