Black And Gold Gatsby-Inspired Congratulations Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Thursday!

The Art Deco Gatsby-inspired look has been trending for a while now and it really speaks to my gold-coveting heart! It's just so perfect for both masculine and feminine cards, and for any occasion too!

Hero Arts clearly felt as inspired as I did, with their Deco in the City Bold Prints stamp and Deco Celebration stamp set really celebrating the trend. I couldn't wait to bring them together in a black and gold-laden beauty:

So sophisticated! I love how this turned out!

I started by stamping the bold background stamp with black ink, needing to ink up the stamp a few times so my stamping was even. I then heat embossed the design with black embossing powder before swiping gold inkpads over the design and blending in to get the gold lines between the bold black shapes!

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and corner decorations with black ink and black embossing powder. I added a few hand-drawn lines then trimmed out my sentiment and adhered it in place with dimensional glue gel. A simple card that packs a punch!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Gnome!

Hello, Tallie here with this cute little 'sorry I forgot your birthday' gnome card featuring the new Lawn Fawn 'Oh Gnome!' set. I have a couple of friends who love gnomes and have their birthdays within a few days of each other, so I'm preparing in advance to forget to send them a card!

I started out by stamping a really simple scene. I used the male and female gnome from the set, stamping out the speech bubbles and the two sentiments inside using some MFT Extreme Black Ink.

I coloured them in with my alcohol markers, sticking to the more traditional colours of red and blue. I used a couple of green markers to add some grass to ground the figures.

For the main sentiment, I stamped out the 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Hay There set onto some red cardstock. I then used a Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banner die to die cut the sentiment. I mounted this with some foam tape and used it to frame up the mini-scene.

A little glitter gel pen to the heart finishes it off nicely!

Thanks for reading, catch you next week.

Dragon Wishes

Today I have a clean and simple card to share, featuring the Mama Elephant Me and My Dragon, and Dragon Wishes stamp sets.

I love to add detail with background dies on my CAS cards. I die cut the Reverse Confetti Stitched Rays cover die on white card and adhered it to my card base.

Next, I stamped and coloured an image from the Me and My Dragon stamp set, then die cut it out. The cake and puff are from the Dragon Wishes stamp set, along with the sentiment.

I added the images with foam tape, then finished with some enamel dots around the stamped sentiment.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Coffee for Mum

I've got a card for you today that would be ideal for Mother's Day but to be honest you
don't need a special day to send a thank you card and it's perfect for those
Mums that love coffee....aka.... my Mum 😉

I've dug out an older set from Concord & 9th called Lets Chat and stamped out the two cups and saucers. I've watercoloured them, trying hard to let the layers dry so I could get the deliberate harsh lines in the shades and shadows. When the images were dry I stamped the heart in unicorn white pigment ink a few times to get coverage and did the same with the 'For You' sentiment in the second cup. It was a perfect size for the cup and font style for Barista art!!

To stamp the cloth I have used the Cozy Plaid set from Lil Inkers which is unfortunately out of stock at the moment but should be back very soon.... an alternative could be Brushed Plaid from Lil Inkers.

I completed the card by masking and stamping a sentiment using MFT's Gift card Greetings and Pretty Painted Alpha.
For the card base I used the awesome new Background stamp from Hero Arts called Ocean Waves Bold prints with Dusty Blue ink on Moonstone card for a tone on tone look... I love the subtle effect :)

I think this card would be perfect to slip a giftcard inside, in fact if you changed up the
greeting it would be suitable for anyone and not just for Mother's Day 😉

Thanks for stopping by :)

Church Wedding

You don't often see me use alcohol inks - it's a medium I rarely have much success with to be honest, but today I've managed to use them to make a stained glass window wedding card.

The idea struck me when I spotted the new "Ballroom Window" die from Hero Arts as to me the shape screamed stained glass church window.

I started by creating my church wall using narwahl and fog cardstock from lawnfawn.  I used the stone wall die from Tim Holtz's Mixed Media #4 die set from Sizzix and die cut twice rotating it to make a rectangle.  I ended up with a couple of corners of solid cardstock so I  just partially die cut those with the same die.  I poked out all the "stones" and then glued the "waste" to the darker card so it looked like the mortar holding the darker stones together.

To create the window I used the outer frame that comes with the die to remove the wall where I wanted a window (if only it was that easy in real life!) and then cut the decorative frame from more fog cardstock.

To create the stained glass I roughly cut a piece of acetate a little larger than the window frame  and used flamingo pink, plum, eggplant and stream alcohol inks to add random dots of colour on the back.  I then used some blending solution on a scrap of felt to "pounce" on the dots and move the colours around a bit - as I say - I am NOT an expert with alcohol inks so just muddle my way along often with disastrous results, but this one seemed to work out quite well.   I glued the acetate with the ink side facing the back, behind my wall panel and then glued the decorative frame to the front.

I finished with a sentiment from the new Hero Arts Occasions stamp set stamped with Cobalt Archival Ink from Ranger.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

It will be a quieter week in terms of actual new items coming into store but it's a busy week for us for ordering all the new releases that will be out later in the month.

We will have the brand new release from Waffle Flower Crafts in store on release day which is on 5th March.

We also have some Echo Park/Carta Bell and Simple Stories paper pads and stencils and embossing folders to add this week.

The latest release from Lil' Inker Designs has been ordered - we no longer get early access so it will always be here a couple of weeks after release.

We will be ordering Lawn Fawn restocks too but they normally take 3-4 weeks to process orders so it will be a while before they come back and we won't know what is out of stock until it arrives.

That's all the news today.

Oink, Oink - Pig Birthday Wishes

Hey stampers, Anni here!

This card is totally inspired by fellow craft makers! This super cute stamp set called Hogs and Kisses by Mama Elephant I bought because I kept seeing so many fantastic creations by crafty friends. I couldn't resist anymore.
And the colour combination I used for this card was introduced to me by fabulous Nichol Spohr. So that was the starting point for my card.

I started by ink blending the background. I masked of a stripe on my card panel and used Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral and Dried Marigold. Then I applied glitterpaste through Newton's Nook Cloudy Sky stencil. But I didn't use the whole background but masked groups of clouds.

While the background dried I stamped the images using a light ink because I wanted to do No Line Colouring again. I coloured the pig using pencils, just the black parts like the eyes, the nostrils and the string of the balloon I drew with a black gel pen. Then I fussy cut the image (there are coordinating dies available).

For the sentiment I used one of the many punny sentiments in the set. I heat embossed it in white and cut it into narrow stripes. Then I assmebled the card! And also added in some tiny hearts that I die cut using Mama Elephant's Confetti Creative Cuts.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.
Anni

Garden Frame

We've finally managed to load all the brand new items from the new Hero Arts 2019 Catalogue to store - all 120 of them!   There are lots of gorgeous new items, not least a rainbow of stunning card stocks, but I wanted to make something quick this morning with the new release so opted for the Garden Fancy Die which is a fabulous delicate frame that you can treat in many, many ways.

Here I simply trimmed a panel of  Lawn Fawn's beautifully delicate grey card stock - Fog - to slightly smaller than my square base card and die cut the garden from it.  I used my Polychromos pencils to colour in the flowers, leaves, bird and butterflied, leaving the fence grey.

I stamped a sentiment from the new Occasions sentiment set also from Hero Arts on the base card - lining it up before I added foam tape behind the grey panel and finished with some black enamel accents.

Super quick but pretty effect.

Right, back to packing orders - catch you on Sunday.
