All Prickles

Hello and happy Monday to you :)

I've been enjoying some colouring again this week and pairing up a couple of MFT stamp sets that were made for each other.... Sweet Succulents and Happy Hedgehogs.

It amused me to think of this shortsighted little fellow thinking the potted Cactus was another hedgehog.. Lol :) Once I'd coloured and cut out the two images I scratched my head on how best to display them on my card... anyone else have this dilemma sometimes??  I decided on a group of cacti in the background but left them uncoloured so the main characters were still in the limelight :)

I masked the different plants to create the scene... I also stamped the round cactus again on the background so it could keep the spines I'd trimmed off!!....

The Sweet Succulents set has a great sentiment that works so well with the hedgehogs too...

Oh how I enjoyed assembling this little scene.. I love the autumnal feel, I even snuck a couple of conkers into the shot .... I still have to pick them up this time of year. I cannot resist them especially if they're still sitting in their spiky case!!

I made a similar style scene to the first card with greenery in the background and then layered the coloured images on top... I just love his expression :)

Well I hope you enjoyed a dose of hedgehog cuteness this Monday morning.. thanks for stopping by and catch you again next week :)

  1. Oh my goodness, these are ADORABLE! What a fab idea to have the hedgehog mistaking a cactus for another hedgehog, that did make me laugh, and the B&W stamping in the background is perfect. Love the autumn scene too, so cute and such fantastic colouring. Who doesn't like collecting conkers? With you on that one :)

  2. I love these cards! The scenes are so cute, especially love the black line cactuses behind the coloured images.

  3. I love these cards, especially the first one because there's so much contrast between the colored part and the B&W part! It really makes the colored images stand out. May I ask what product you used to color the images and what type of cardstock? I have a bit of trouble finding cardstock that works well for stamping crisp images and then coloring them in watercolor. Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Gerdien, thanks for your lovely comment and question :) I have used Memento ink and copic pens to colour the images on Neenah Classic Crest Card by Crafter's Companion. When it comes to Water-colouring I tend to use Versafine ink and Distress Watercolour cardstock... hope that helps :)

  5. Hi Jenny, thanks for your reply! I have Versafine ink, but I will try the Distress cardstock, I'm sure that'll help! :-) Thanks again!
