Lion Dance Chinese New Year Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Thursday!

Yesterday was Valentine's Day. If, like me, you don't buy in to that commercialised celebration of love, then you might be interested in something else that's happening tomorrow - Chinese New Year! I love all the displays of colour and the bright celebrations in the streets when Chinese New Year rolls around - and I still recall the story of how the years were assigned. I'm a Rooster, do you know what you are?

I wanted to put together a bright, celebratory card that brought to mind the street celebrations for the event, so the Mama Elephant Lion Dance stamp set seemed ideal:

I just love those lions! The've been illustrated so cutely!

I started by creating my background. I used a mini ink blending tool to just add circles of red and gold ink, then lightly blended some gold ink for my ground and over my background. Some splatters of mists and water helped add interest and also a touch of bokeh to the scene! I then heat embossed the little confetti pieces with gold embossing powder.

Next came all my images. I stamped them out and coloured with Copics (adding some shimmer with a Wink of Stella glitter brush pen), before carefully fussy cutting them out and adhering with dimensional glue gel.

Don't they all look like they're having a great time?

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!
