Rainbow Birthday Blocks

I love graphic lettering styles so this new die released by MFT this month was simply a must have for me.  I can see so many different styles of cards it will be great for, but this weekend I knocked up two cards with it using just one sheet of rainbow paper from the new Cue The Confetti pad from Reverse Confetti.

The first card is super simple - literally just the die cut from the paper and the negative space used to create a single layer square card.  The only added detail is that I traced the edges of each letter with a fine black pen just to make the edges pop more.

For the second card I used the letters from the die cut and again edged them this time before putting them on the card - I used an alcohol marker and ran it around all the edges before gluing them down.  To make lining them up easy, you could cut the die from scratch paper and use it to piece the letters into, but because I had this happy rainbow stripe, it was easy to line up the stripes to get the letters in the right place.

To make a standard sized card rather than another square, I just added a couple of characters from MFT's new Safari Friends  stamp set, just stamped directly onto the card base and coloured with pencils.  I added a little grassy mound for them to stand on by using the new grassy edges stencil - rather than inking I just traced the edge with a coloured pencil and shaded it down to the edge.

NEWS FROM THE STORE
  • The latest release from Concord and 9th arrived late on Friday afternoon so will be in store tomorrow morning.
  • We have the latest release from Newton's Nook so that will be in store on release day.
  • Given the issues we had in June, we've worked with AlteNew to ensure the July release arrives before release day but we don't yet have a confirmed release date.  Watch this space and Facebook for news.   We'll make the stencils live as soon as it arrives.

STORE CLOSURE
We are taking a small summer break so orders received up to NOON (BST) on Friday 20th July will ship that day.   Orders received after that time will be processed when we return form our break on Wednesday 25th July.   The store will remain open for ordering during our break but there will be no addition of new releases  and we will not be answering emails or facebook messages.  Due to the backlog of orders we will have when we get home it may be a few days before orders ship whilst we catch up so if you could please be patient and don't chase for delivery until the first week of August that would help us get orders out faster!
