Floral Distress Oxide Bleaching

Today I have a floral card to share with some simple colouring and the distress oxide bleaching technique.

I began by adding Shabby Shutters distress oxide ink to a panel of white card. On this, I stamped some images and a sentiment from the Altenew Hello Sunshine stamp set. I added some smaller stamped images around the panel, using Shabby Shutters distress oxide ink, to fill in the gaps.

Next, I chose two blue-green copic markers and coloured in the flowers. I deliberately went outside the lines and missed areas, to give the colouring a loose feel.

For the leaves, I first painted them with plain water using a small brush, then used a paper towel to blot them dry. By adding water, the distress oxide ink is reactivated and some of the colour can be removed, giving a bleached look.

I added a panel of foam sheet before mounting it on a white card base. I finished with a few white jewels around the sentiment.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Florals and Circles

Hello, Gemma here today sharing a geometric design with simple stamping. I love designs that are quick and easy to recreate if you need a card in a hurry.

For this technique, you need either a circle stencil or a set of circle dies in various sizes to make your own stencil.

I blended on different sized circles onto a white card base, overlapping some and varying the blending pressure to get lighter and darker tones. I kept the colour scheme very simple, only using three colours - purple, green and grey.

Next, I picked a line style floral stamp set. Altenew Hello Sunshine has a lovely mix of florals, with some nice details which work well for this technique. I stamped some of the flowers in black ink over the circles.

I left space in the centre for a sentiment from the Altenew Celebrate stamp set, and heat embossed them in gold. To finish, I added some clear sparkle to the flowers and a few sequins around the card.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Celebrating You

Hello, Tallie here, and the card I bring you today is based around three colours: black, red and green. One of my friends just got a new job and these are the colours of her new company.

On some Bristol Smooth card stock, I stamped out several different flowers and leaves from the Altenew Hello Sunshine stamp set using some Versafine Black Onyx Ink. I pulled out some of my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in shades of red and blueish green, and used a waterbrush to blend out the colour. Once dry, I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I cut out a white circle using the second largest MFT Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Dienamics and stamped out the 'Let's Celebrate You' sentiment from the Concord & 9th Birthday Stacks set. I love the mix of fonts in the sentiment. I coloured in the open letters with two matching markers.

I then took out a top-folding white A6 cardbase and started to arrange my coloured flowers popping out from the foam mounted sentiment, using a rectangle of red cardstock to help distinguish them from the background. I felt that the white background panel was too stark, so I took some Broken China Distress Oxide Ink and lightly blended it on from the centre. I also added a few splatters for more interest.

I love how these two sets mix and match, giving the perfect opportunity to celebrate my friend for a change!

Thanks for reading, catch you next week.

Tallie

Watercolour Roses

Happy Tuesday!

It's been a while since I've done any watercolouring so it was time to get my zig clean colour real brush pens out again for this card.

I started by heat embossing some leaves from the Altenew Hello Sunshine stamp set with gold embossing powder. I added a sentiment from the Altenew Celebrate stamp set in the same gold embossing. I kept the sentiment simple, to allow the card to be used for different occasions.

I chose the rose images from the Hello Sunshine stamp set, and white heat embossed them on some watercolour paper. I then coloured these in with my zig clean colour real brush pens, using a water pen to blend the colours.

I flicked the background with some pink and gold colours to create drops of colours. The Kuretake Gansai Tambi starry colours would be lovely for adding the gold spots.

I die cut the panel with a stitched rounded rectangle die, from the MFT Blueprints 31 set, then adhered it to a top folding card base.

Next, I fussy cut out the flowers and added them to the card, using some foam tape behind the largest flower for dimension. I also add some wink of stella clear glitter to the flowers for extra sparkle.

I enjoyed doing a little watercolouring again. The zig pens are lovely to work with and the images in the Altenew Hello Sunshine stamp set are perfect for colouring techniques.

Thanks for joining me today,

Hello Sunshine Floral Border

The Hello Sunshine stamp set from Altenew has been on my wish list for a while, so I was excited when the Altenew restocks came in recently and I managed to get hold of it.

I love the illustrative style of these flowers and leaves. I thought they would look great in black and white as there is a lot of detail to them.

I planned to use a stitched rectangle frame so I masked off the edges of a white card base so no stamping would appear outside the frame. I stamped directly onto the card base with black ink, to make a floral frame.

Next, I chose an accent colour (MFT Razzle Berry dye ink) and blended on some ink in two opposite corners of the rectangle frame, softening the colour out to white. I then added this to the card with liquid glue.

I die cut the Neat & Tangled Celebrate word die from white card, and blended on the same ink at the bottom, gradually fading to white. I added this to the card too, then stamped in the same pink ink, a small greeting from the Avery Elle Sentimental stamp set.

I toyed with adding some pink sequins but decided to keep the accent colour to a minimum and used clear sequins instead.

This is a simple design to recreate with any of your floral stamp sets, but I think it works particularly well with Altenew Hello Sunshine.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Chalkboard Hello Sunshine

Hi there everyone and happy Thursday!

Today I have a card that uses a technique that I haven't used in a while...

I
I really think that Altenew 'Hello Sunshine' works well with the chalkboard effect- the bold, fun flowers work so well in white against the black background.

I first stamped and embossed the sentiment in white and then added flowers to the top and bottom, again heat embossing the images in white. Once all my images were in place I added some colour with coloured pencil and with that the card was complete!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you like my card.

Hugs Lydia x
