For the Knitters

I have a make to share with you today that is ideal for those knitting fans out 

there using the Letterboard dies and Knit Wit stamp set from Sugarpea Designs...

This piece started life as a panel to go on the front of a card but when looking for some 

grey foam to mount it onto I found a piece with a magnetic backing and I decided 

to turn it into a fridge magnet instead!

I've just cut lots of letters using the alpha die in the Letterboard set and arranged the quote 

around the pile of knitting wool which are from the Knit Wit set.

Now I had to go back to the drawing board with a card to go with the magnet so I used two more balls of wool from the same set and paired them up with a sentiment from Mama Elephants Scripty Birthday. I used Distress oxides to stamp the words so they matched the Copics used for the wool and I extended the lines from the sentiments using other 

stamps in the set and the partial inking technique.

To balance up the design I used a small sentiment on a piece of textured card to look like 

a stitched label... adding a small dotted line with a stamp but could easily be done by hand too

I think that quote would work for any crafter whatever their crafting medium, lets face 

buying supplies is just as fun as using them 😉

Stencil Striped Embossing

For my card today, I used a great stencil from Echo Park called Best Summer Ever Good Vibes stencil. I love the irregular lines, which I always think helps so you don’t have to be too perfect.

I blended on some distress oxide inks over the stencil, to add lines to part of my card. I used Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, Evergreen Bough and Cracked Pistachio.

I dried the ink on the panel with a heat tool, as I need all the ink to be dry before I do the next step - heat embossing.

With an embossing pen, I drew lines along the edge of the stencilled lines. I then heat embossed them with metallic silver embossing powder.

To finish, I stamped a sentiment from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday stamp set and added a few enamel dots.

Fly Away With Me

Hello, Tallie here and happy Wednesday!

I've been doing some more colouring, this time with the Mama Elephant Fly With Me set. It took a little bit of time upfront to create this scene with some masking, but I think it was worth it in the end!

I started out with an A6 panel of blending cardstock. I wanted to make sure that the sentiment was the main focus of the card so I stamped the 'happy birthday to you' from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday set in the top right corner in some MFT Extreme Black Hybrid Ink. Next, I stamped out the four elephants in the set, spacing them around so the sentiment was framed. I created some masks out of some Post-It Notes so that I could stamp the clouds from the set behind the elephants. This way it looks as though the sky is full of elephants!

I then took out my alcohol markers, using some light blue markers to colour in the sky background and concentrating the colour around the elements. I used similarly light blue-green markers for the clouds, warm greys for the elephants (with some light reds for the ears) and some deep, contrasting reds for the balloons.

I adhered the panel to a top-folding card base and added some Glossy Accents to make the balloons nice and shiny.

You couldn't help but feel uplifted if you received this card on your birthday!

Canine Birthday Wishes

Hello, Tallie here, and a happy Wednesday to you!

Today I have a card featuring a couple of Mama Elephant sets: The Dog’s Woof and Scripty Bday. I needed some down time and the heat made it difficult to stay upstairs in my craft room, so this card features lots of alcohol marking colouring!

On some white blending cardstock I stamped out the Mama Elephant The Dog’s Woof stamp in some MFT Extreme Black Hybrid Ink. Since I was stamping onto an A6 panel, I created a mask with some Post-It Notes and stamped again so there were more doggies and the card was two-thirds filled.

I then took out my alcohol markers, sat in front of the TV and coloured me a doggie rainbow using many different colours of marker: E, W, C and Rs for the ears and tongues. I especially love the cutie in the top right corner with his tongue lolling out! I kept it simple with the background using just two BG markers.

The colouring speaks for itself so I kept the sentiment simple, using the ‘birthday wishes’ stamp from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday set.

This is a great way to make cards out of your Copic colouring practices. The Mama Elephant sets like this (the cats, snowmen and bunnies) are perfect for some colouring time.

Magical Birthday

Hi everybody,

I'm baaaaaack  How are you all?  I've missed you that's for sure.  I've been a busy bee moving house and changing careers so needed a little time to get sorted and settle in.

I've got a little Mama Elephant magic for you to ease myself in, I do hope you like it...

I used Mama Elephant's Lovely Piggies, Scripty Bday, and Picket Fence to make my card.

As soon as I got my Scripty Bday set, and read this sentiment, I thought of this little piggy in his little top hat and how he looked like a magician, so set up the scene from there.

I started by creating my background, a loose watercolour wash using my wonderful Zigs.  I free handed the grassy verge and added some of the flowers from the Lovely Piggies set.  I stamped and cut out all my other elements and coloured, again, using my Zigs, stamping and cutting a spare little hat to use as my 'magician's hat'.  I would've dearly loved a little bunny popping out of the hat, but I couldn't find one that would fit, so opted for this cute bouquet.

I love the expression on this little piggies face, he looks so very pleased with himself, like he really has just pulled off the greatest magic trick of all time!

I stamped my sentiment from Scripty Bday straight onto my background and heat embossed to give it some extra definition.

I finished my card with a scattering of stars cut from Mama Elephant's Confetti Creative Cuts and there you have it! 

I can't tell you how pleased I am to be getting back to normal...whatever that is!

Rainbow Stripes

Hello, Gemma here today to share a card featuring a rainbow background. I actually made the background several months back, but then I got stuck and was unsure where to go next. When this happens, I prefer to put the project aside and come back to it another time.

I used the Altenew Watercolour Stripes stencil and some lovely distress oxides to create the background. I added the colour straight onto the card base. I then flicked the background with a mix of gold perfect pearls and water.

When I came back to the panel recently, I decided to allow the background to be the star and just add a simple sentiment over the top.

I die cut a Lawn Fawn stitched square from white card, and gold heat embossed a greeting from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday stamp set.

I layered it with foam tape over a larger vellum stitched square, then adhered it to the rainbow card base.

I finished by adding some Neat and Tangled Like Magic sequins in different sizes around the card.
