It's Summer! Seashells Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Thursday!

Summer seems to be on its way out unfortunately. We've had some amazingly hot days in the UK over the past few months - just the way that Summer should be! But the one thing I didn't get a chance to do to enjoy our warmer climes was to hit the beach.

I'm totally spoiled when it comes to beaches. With my parents coming from Mauritius, my childhood holidays were filled with trips to visit my grandparents and enjoy the amazing beaches at the same time. Some of my fondest memories include collecting hundreds upon hundreds of shells from various visits and building up my own collection. Memories!

I definitely had those memories in mind when I pulled out the Newton's Nook Seashells stencil and the Newton's Nook Newton's Summer Treats stamp set - time for me to hit the beach!

I can almost hear the waves gently lapping on the shore, can't you?!

I started by dry embossing the stencil by running it through my die cutting machine with some impression mats. I then watercoloured over the scene and sprinkled on some salt to lift the colour - so fun!

I then placed the stencil back on the card when my watercolouring was dry then dabbed some white acrylic paint through to bring out the design. Some splatters of Glimmer Mist really added a sunkissed touch!

I wanted to add a more nautical touch to the card, so I roughly knotted some twine and stapled it to my card front. I love the rustic touch it adds!

The sentiment from Newton's Summer Treats was the perfect finishing touch for this card. I stamped it onto some white cardstock and adhered it with dimensional glue gel to complete my card!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Treat Yo Self! Giant Ice-Cream Kitty Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Thursday!

It's no secret that I'm a cat lover. With two kittens recently added to my furry family I'm well on my way to crazy cat lady status! I also love ice-cream. With the hot weather I've indulged quite a bit in ice-cream in the past few weeks. I've probably eaten a mountain of ice-cream at this point - and I'm not even sorry.

You might be wondering why I'm talking about cats and ice-cream in the same paragraph. Well, with the most recent Newton's Nook release these two loves combined with super-sweet results! I'm talking of course about the Newton's Nook Newton's Summer Treats stamp set - and I couldn't wait to play with it!

Let's be honest - I'm basically Newton in this scenario.

I mixed some white embossing paste mixed with some reinkers to create my vanilla and strawberry ice-creams. I then freehand created my giant scoops of ice-cream. Don't they look so realistic?!

The chocolate flakes/crumbs were also made from coloured embossing paste. I spread it onto some acetate and left it to dry before scraping it off. Tapping it lightly into my strawberry ice-cream gave an awesome effect!

It was time Newton made an appearance! I partially stamped him and then coloured him with Copics, adding some detail with a white gel pen. I trimmed him out and adhered him with dimensional glue gel. Look at him about to go to town on that giant ice-cream!

My sentiment is in the form of a Cadbury's Flake! I coloured a piece of white cardstock with Copics, adding the detail with the chisel tip. I freehand trimmed the Flake shape, then heat embossed the sentiment in white.

I added some extra vanilla ice-cream where the Flake was tucked in. Doesn't it look good enough to eat?!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!
