Framed Flowers

Hello there :)

I've gone floral today and used the new Just Because dies from Concord & 9th to make a pretty framed scene....

Apologies for the photos, the lighting wasn't great when I took the them!

I've used one of the leafy dies and cut several from a piece of card that I'd sponged with various greens from the distress line.... I love that technique as you get such a variation of colour on each die cut.

I cut a couple of the thin frames using cream card and one with brown for the top layer of the stack then glued the stems behind the frame, allowing some to  peek over the edges.

To create a hill and sky in the background, I used the waste piece of card from cutting the frame as a mask to sponge inside...

That's what a whimsical meadow looks like in my imagination :)

I added the framed flowers over the top and then stamped a sentiment from Altenew's Birthday Greetings onto a separate piece of card. I adhered the banner with dimension at the fishtail end so I could tuck an extra leafy sprig and flower at that end of the sentiment.

I'm holding on to that thought of meadow flowers and summer days for now...
it'll help me get through the cold snap this week :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Rainbow Stripes

I'm a big fan of cover dies. The Reverse Confetti 2-way Stripes cover panel die is really versatile. By keeping some or all of the stripes in the die cut, it offers lots of design possibilities.

For this card, I decided to use it without the stripes and create a background to show through.

I blended a rainbow of distress ink colours on to an A2 notecard. I flicked it with a perfect pearls water mix and blotted with a paper towel to give some pretty distressed patterns.

I die cut the panel from white card, and stamped a greeting in Versamark ink, before heat embossing it with silver embossing powder.

I added the panel to the card base and the card is finished.

Use with a different sentiment, or perhaps more than one sentiment on different lines, to adapt this design to fit other occasions.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Selective Colour Florals

Hello and thanks for joining me.

My card today is inspired by selective colour photos, where one part of the image stays in colour whilst the rest is black and white.

On a white card base, I stamped the flower and leaf outlines from the WPlus9 Pretty Peonies set. I left gaps around each image as, without colour, they need some separation to stand out.

On the largest peony, I stamped the other layers in colour, using some Altenew inks.

For the sentiment, I white heat embossed a greeting on black card. I used a Lawn Fawn banner die to cut it out (alternative option linked below) and added it to the card with foam squares for dimension. To bring out the colour of the peony some more, I added some pink sequins.

I was pleased with the design so I created two more in different colours, with matching enamel dots.

For the orange flower card, I rotated the design for a different look. I've added links to the end of the post for the supplies used.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Musical Birthday

Hello and thanks for joining me. Today I have a musical card to share with you.

On a piece of white card, I used the MFT Stitched Strip die-namic to create a musical staff for the notes to sit upon.

I chose the 'Happy Birthday To You' sentiment from the Altenew Birthday Greetings stamp set, adding it above the stitched lines on the card. As this stamp set is out of stock currently, I've also linked to some great alternatives below.

I die cut the MFT Musical Notes from different glitter card stocks, and arranged them on the card so the notation suggests the first line of the song, 'Happy Birthday To You'.

Finally, I trimmed down the panel and attached it to a white A6 card base.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Colourful Autumn Leaves

Hello and happy Monday to you all :)

I hope you don't mind but I haven't put the Woodland Basics dies away from last week, I wanted to make an autumnal wreath and play with colour!! Yes I'm afraid it's another wreath... seems the best way to display 'all things foliage' ...

These leaves are probably a little more vibrant than you might find in the local woods but hey... we can dream right? I started by just adding lots of water to a couple of sheets of watercolour card and dropping in shades of yellows, oranges, reds and greens so they could blend and bleed a little into each other... and even some browns too. When they were dry I had great fun just cutting lots of leaves from both panels and a few acorns in the brown areas as well :) That's a whole lotta happy in that bowl *happy sigh*

Then I simply arranged all the pretty leaves into a wreath and glued them down before adding a sentiment from Altenew's Birthday Greetings set....  a few splatters and a bow of twine.. autumn card done :)

Here's another card I made using some of the leftover watercolour card.... seemed to good to discard!!

I used a square frame which I'd stamped with this woodgrain pattern to adhere over a section of the die cut piece and then backed with a piece of vellum to contrast the rough texture on the card base. I popped a sentiment strip up and used one of the acorns and a few leftover leaves to embellish...

Well that was a colourful autumnal post.... can you guess it's my favourite time of year?? !!

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
