We 'herd' it's your birthday!

I'm taking a break from the Christmas cards today with this punny set of birthday cards featuring the 'We Herd' stamp from Waffle Flower. Paired with some Lawn Fawn Watercolour Wishes Patterned Paper (this is my favourite paper besides the rainbow pack and is back in stock right now!), you can customise the card colours to suit the recipient.

I started out by stamping the herd of sheep and balloon stamps from the Waffle Flower We Herd stamp set twice onto some blending cardstock in some MFT Extreme Black ink. I coloured the sheep in with my alcohol markers using two different tones of grey - more cool greys for the blue card and warm greys for the pink card. I used some pinks to brighten up their cheeks and ears, and die cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I cut two pieces from the Lawn Fawn Watercolour Wishes Patterned Paper pad - a blue and a pink - down and adhered them to top-folding A6 card bases. On this vertical design some of the ears and tails stick out, but the standard C6 envelopes will fit around these so I'm not too worried. I used a couple of strips of DIY black and white striped paper I made a while back (here's the post explaining how) to ground the main image, popping it up with some foam tape.

For the balloons, I popped them up with some foam tape and adhered them above the sheep. I used a black fine liner to add some strings, making sure to get underneath the images so there was no 'gap' in the strings.

I finished the cards off with the punny sentiment from the main set, white heat embossing it across the bottom of the card with some Hero Arts Detail White Embossing Powder.

I actually gave our building's cleaner one of these cards last week and she was tickled pink! Hehee. :)

Happy Gnome Birthday

Hello, Tallie here. I'm back today with a happy little gnome birthday card! This one reminds me a little of Gnomeo and Juliet. I used a bunch of Lawn Fawn products and the Oh Gnome! and Big Scripty Words stamp sets to create this scene card.

I started off by stamping out the gnomes, toadstools, flowers and wheelbarrow from the Oh Gnome! stamp set in some MFT Extreme Black Ink onto some blending cardstock. I coloured these in with my alcohol markers, sticking to bright gnome-like colours and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

To create the scene, I coloured up two panels in some Mowed Lawn/Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean/Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks. I cut the blue panel with a Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle and the green with the Grassy Border die. I also cut out some clouds using the Simple Puffy Clouds dies and coloured them in with some Weathered Wood Distress Ink. I adhered these directly to a card base, adding the coloured elements to create the scene.

I created the sentiment using two different sets. Firstly, I stamped the birthday greeting from the Big Scripty Words stamp set and die cut it with the coordinating die. I stamped out the HAPPY greeting from the Oh Gnome! set into a strip.

Birthday Blooms

Hello, Tallie here. I'm back today with one of my favourite floral sets: Concord & 9th's Grateful for Everything. I have used this set multiple times but never get bored of colouring or creating differently themed cards. Today, it's a birthday card and I've paired it with the MFT Bitty Birthday Wishes set for a great sentiment.

I started out by stamping the spray of flowers in some MFT Extreme Black Ink onto some blending card stock. I coloured these in with my alcohol markers, sticking to bright reds and a couple of different shades of green for the leaves. I've coloured this stamp in quite a few times and have found that it looks a lot better if you get some really deep colour into the centre of the flower, so I deepened up the shadows with some darker grey markers. I added some black gel pen to add some raised dimension for the inner flower.

I used some blue-green markers to colour in the background, going deeper with the colours immediately around the flower and leaves to give some dimension. The background looked a little plain, so I used my black gel pen to randomly add some dots around the flower spray.

The sentiment was a simple white-heat embossed greeting from the MFT Bitty Birthday Wishes set onto a strip of black cardstock.

Neat & Tangled Later Alligator set and simple watercolouring.

Hello everyone!

 I'm back with another card. Today's project features Neat & Tangled Later Alligator stamp set along with simple watercolouring and ink blending.

I started with stamping all chosen images on to piece of watercolour paper with waterproof black ink. After watercolouring, I fussy cut everything out and left on the side, while working on the background.

I decided to do simple ink blending on my background, using distress oxide ink and a blending tool. I masked off the top part of card panel with a piece of masking paper as I didn't want any unnecessary ink going there. I chose to leave the top portion of my card white, to give watercoloured images more attention. I also added water splatters.

 

Before attaching anything, I arranged my little scene to make sure that I was happy with the results.  

I used foam squares to adhere all the images ( except the banner, where I used liquid glue ).
My last step was to stamps the sentiment from the same Later Alligator set with black ink and add a few blue and gold sequins.
I adhered the whole card panel to the slightly larger card base with crafts foam and double-sided tape.

Mama Elephant Big News stamp set - birthday card

Hello there! Hope, that you're having a great day. 

 I'm back to show you this girly birthday card, made with Mama Elephant Big News stamps set. 

Let's start with the main images - I decided to use all three critters from this set. I just couldn't decide which one to chose, they're all soo cute! 

 After stamping them on a piece of watercolour paper with waterproof ink, I coloured everything with Distress Inks and added a little sentiment to each of the wooden signs. I chose greetings from the same set because they're so little and fit perfectly into small spaces.

My next step was to fussy cut all of my coloured animals and move to the background.

For this, I decided to do ink blending with Distress Oxides in lovely pinks. I also added water splatters and few metallic splatters for much-needed interest behind the focal images.

 

After my blended background was ready, I adhered all the critters with foam squares and stamped an additional sentiment from Avery Elle Simple Sentiments stamp set.

To tie everything together I added few sequins and glossy accents to the boards.

This card turned out so cute! I'm definitely going to do similar - boy version of it with blues and maybe greens too!

Safari party

Hello lovely people! 

I'm back with a very simple card today, which features MFT Safari Party stamp set.  ( Hey! This set in now 25% off! )

I must say, I often struggle with clean and simple cards.

I like splatters and dimension, so it was very hard not to add any of it here.

My first step was to stamp this adorable elephant on to watercolour paper with Versafine Onyx Black. This ink is waterproof and perfect for working with waterbased mediums. Then I've coloured it with Zig markers and cut out using scissors.

 

Before assembling this card, I die cut large circle from Large Stitched Circle Lawn Cuts in white. It has lovely stitched details, just enough to add a little bit of interest behind the main image.

I've also used Hero Hues Pebble Cardstock from Hero Arts, cut to be slightly smaller than my card base.

My next step was to stamp the sentiment. I chose one of the greetings from the same Safari Party set. I've curved it to fit along the circle part and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black. 

After adhering everything together, I added a few clear sequins and glossy accents to the hat and little bow.
