Sweater Weather on Safari

Hello crafty people!
Hope that you all doing great.

I'm back with another card today, which features MFT Sweater Weather on Safari stamp set.  

As usual, I started from stamping all needed images from the stamp set on to piece of watercolour paper. I used distress inks for colouring and scissors for fussy cutting. ( you can always use coordinating dies )   

My next step was to do ink blending for the background. I used distress oxides in warm colours to create a sunset impression and added water splatters for more interest.

Once my background and images were dry, I die-cut window from kraft card panel made out of Hero Arts Hero Hues Sand cardstock with a circle die and adhered my blended background piece behind it with craft foam. I also added critters to the front with a little bit of dimension and drawn faux stitching details around the window itself.

Last but not least, I stamped the sentiment with black ink and adhered the whole card front to the card base.

Dimensional heat embossing over die-cuts.

Hello everyone.

 I'm back with a very fun technique today - dimensional stamping. 

I used Christmas Rose Bouquet and No One Else stamp sets from Wplus9, along with Hero Arts Pebble cardstock. 

My first step was to stamp and colour the main image from the Christmas Rose Bouquet set with alcohol markers. After that, I fussy cut it out using scissors.
I chose to use Hero Arts Hero Hues cardstock in Pebble as my card panel.

After deciding where to position my florals, I used repositionable adhesive to temporarily adhere them in place. It is a very important step, as you got to be able to peel it off later.

 As you can see the sentiment is overlapping with the adhered image and still lines up. To achieve that look, I did make sure that my stamping on the card panel ( grey ) was lining up with stamping on my florals.  I used clear embossing ink to stamp it. I then removed die-cut and restamped it in the same position on the cardstock with the same ink.  I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. 

My next step was to adhere the bouquet to the base. I decided to use liquid glue instead of foam tape because I wanted the focus to be on the overlapping sentiment, but you can definitely use dimensional adhesive here.

 I chose to add a few sequins and sparkle to the florals with a shimmer pen.
My last step was to glue the whole card panel to the slightly larger, white card base with foam tape.
This card is all done!

Woven Congrats

I've been playing with paper today with lots of scraps of card and the fun new Card Builder 2 Die set from Sugar Pea Designs   It's a really versatile die set as all 6 of the elements are independent of each other so can be used in a variety of ways.   I thought the stripe panel would be really fun to do some paper weaving with so I started to play and came up with this.

You can repeat cut with the stripe die so you could do any size piece of weaving but I just wanted a piece large enough to die cut the tag from so just stuck with a single die cut from some arctic card.  I then used the bits that came out as part of my weaving and hand cut some strips in different thicknesses using cherry, periwinkle and nautical cardstock for the other stripes.   Then it's just a case of under, over, under over and working your way down the pattern repeating the colours.

Once the weaving was complete, I flipped the piece over and added some wet glue, spreading it around so all the pieces were covered (some will go through to the front but its dries clear so don't worry) and then secured it onto a piece of white card so it would all hold together once I die cut from it (rubbing it over with a brayer or bone folder helps ensure its fully stuck).

Once dry I die cut is using the tag die and used the little hole punch die to cut a hole at the top so I could add some co-ordinating cord.   I used the dotted frame die to cut a base from fog card and then die cut the lines from it at the bottom.   The banner is cut from narwhal card and then the sentiment, the new congrats word die also from Sugar Pea Designs is double cut using Fog and Cherry and lined up on top each other so the grey gives a subtle shadow.

I think the finished card has a masculine feel thanks to the plaid and the colours so could be good for a new baby boy or for a new job/graduation for a fella.
