Soak Up The Fun

Hey stampers, Anni here!

After all the Christmas cards I showed you in the last weeks, I have now a card with a summer vibe for you. And the best about it: The stamp set I used for it is on sale right now: It is My Favorite Things' Soak Up The Fun. The frog borrowed the balloons from W Plus 9's Friends For All Seasons: Fall.

I started by stamping the images, coloured them with alcohol markers and fussy cut them. The balloons I decorated with the tiny shapes and the HB2U in the set. To emphasize the eyes of the critters I used a black gel pen.

I die cut a sqaure from My Favorite Things' Stitched Mini Scallop Square STAX. To create the frame I cut a square from the inner part with a cutter knife. It would have been easier to use My Favorite Things' Stitched Square Scallop Edge Frames but I don't own them.

Then I assembled the card. It was easy to make and didn't take too much time apart from the coloring process.

Thanks fro stopping by and hace a great and grafty weekend.

Making a Splash on an inky sea.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I'm making a sweet birthday splash...

...using My Favourite Thing's adorable, 'Soak up the fun'.

I started by stamping out and colouring these cheeky little monkeys in their cute little banana boat using Zig Clean Colour Pens then fussy-cut, using a scalpel to get to the inner parts.  The 'Soak The Fun' set these fun guys are from is so brilliant, absolutely jam packed with adorable critters and creatures!  I then moved on to creating my background.  I knew I wanted them bobbing about on the sea, but I don't have any wave stamps or dies in my stash, so instead, I cut the cloud border from Mama Elephant's Landscape Trio Creative Cuts from some thick card, turned it upside down to use as a mask, and softly blended a few different blues to create a nice wavey background, adding a few flicks and splashes of ink for extra interest.

I loved how my background turned out but wanted my boat to be behind a wave as oppose to just sitting on top, I also, however, wanted to keep as few layers as possible, so instead of adding extra bulk, I simply cut around one of the waves with a scalpel, and slotted my little monkey filled fun boat behind :)

My sentiment is stamped directly onto my card front in black ink and clear embossed.  I then added a couple of cute balloons to give a little extra oomph and an added pop of colour.  My balloons are from My Favourite Thing's Somebunny set, stamped out, coloured using Zig's, and fussy-cut.  I then added string from the monkeys to the balloons just for a little added cute.

I'm really happy with how this card came out, and think these little monkeys are cute enough to put a smile on anyone's face and fun enough to make a splash on anyone's birthday!

As always, everything I used is linked below so be sure to have a peek.

See you next week.

Soak up the fun in a sea of vellum.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I'm making a splash in a sea of vellum...

...using My Favourite Thing's 'Soak Up The Fun'.

I started with an idea to create a circle aperture of coloured vellum waves with these cute sea critters swimming in amongst them, but when I was looking through my circle dies, I came across this absolute beaut, 'Hoop Die', form Neat and Tangled that I hadn't used in a while, and thought it would add a nice little twist on the scene, so opted for that.

I started by cutting a panel using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangles, then cutting the hoop die from it.  I then cut the hoop die again to build the frame up, and in-laid it back in.  I cut strips of vellum using Mama Elephant's Landscape Trio cloud die upside down to create waves and coloured using alcohol markers.  I then adhered these to the back of my hoop aperture, creating pretty layers.  I stamped out my critters, coloured using Copics, fussy-cut, and adhered in place, bobbing about on the ocean!

My sentiment is from the same Soak up the Fun set, and is stamped out onto the banner from Avery Elle's Woodland Wonders set, and fussy-cut.  To add a little more interest to my background, I stamped out a load of the little bubbles that come in the set, and filled them with Glossy Accents.

I then mounted my finished panel onto a cream card blank, and there you have it.

I really hope you like it, as always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.
