For the Knitters

I have a make to share with you today that is ideal for those knitting fans out 

there using the Letterboard dies and Knit Wit stamp set from Sugarpea Designs...

This piece started life as a panel to go on the front of a card but when looking for some 

grey foam to mount it onto I found a piece with a magnetic backing and I decided 

to turn it into a fridge magnet instead!

I've just cut lots of letters using the alpha die in the Letterboard set and arranged the quote 

around the pile of knitting wool which are from the Knit Wit set.

Now I had to go back to the drawing board with a card to go with the magnet so I used two more balls of wool from the same set and paired them up with a sentiment from Mama Elephants Scripty Birthday. I used Distress oxides to stamp the words so they matched the Copics used for the wool and I extended the lines from the sentiments using other 

stamps in the set and the partial inking technique.

To balance up the design I used a small sentiment on a piece of textured card to look like 

a stitched label... adding a small dotted line with a stamp but could easily be done by hand too

I think that quote would work for any crafter whatever their crafting medium, lets face 

buying supplies is just as fun as using them 😉

Another Pool Party!

I'm back to Pool party's this week... it must be a subliminal anticipation of summer re-starting! 

This time it's the younger generation having fun on their floaties...

I've used a couple of the new items from Avery Elle including the Sea Scene Die which I've cut in both navy and white card so I could layer the white waves behind the navy pieces for a contrast and dimension. The two girls are from the fun Pool Party stamp set and I've coloured them with Copics then cut them out although coordinating dies are available..... 

they look like they're having great fun!

I've used a large word die cut and a sentiment from Reverse Confetti's Word Up set 

then added some water splashes around the image to break up the white space.

Just a Blue Note

Do you ever set yourself creative challenges?? 

Well I did for this card... I pulled out a few Winnie & Walter stamps sets that

 haven't seen ink for a while and then delved into my scraps box....

I found a few scraps of pretty blue card and saw a navy card base so I went 

monochromatic for this card. I used navy ink to stamp out flowers and leaves from 

The Big, The Bold Extras along with a banner. I also used a couple of greenery sprigs from two 

other sets which are a larger scale so I just used parts of the foliage.

To lift the images I added shadow and highlights with a navy and white Polychrome pencil,

it made such a difference. I sponged Faded Jeans distress ink through the Sketched Lines 

stencil to add something to the background then arranged the images in a vertical swag.

The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's Word Up set and just bends

 nicely to fit the curve of the banner :) I'm quite pleased how it turned out and really 

surprised myself how the simple shading adds a lot of dimension.
