Altered tin with WPlus9 Flora & Fauna

Hi everyone, it's Esther here with an altered tin using WPlus9 Flora & Fauna stamps.

Can you guess what the tin started out as? It came free with a packet of Bodyform! I liked the crazy embossed texture on the lid and decided it would make a good base for a project.

I applied a coat of gesso over the top, bottom and sides of the tin but left the inside plain. I then scribbled randomly with three Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (026 Light Pink, 036 Light Blue, 083 Lilac) over the gesso, wetting and moving the colour until I was happy.

Once the colour was dry, I randomly stamped My Favorite Things Scattered Surface Background Stamp and My Favorite Things Sheet Music Background Stamp over the lid using lilac and blue dye inks.

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the large floral image, four individual flowers, two butterflies and the bird on a branch from WPlus9 Flora and Fauna. The colouring was done with Zigs again (026 Light Pink, 036 Light Blue, 041 Light Green, 044 Deep Green, 053 Yellow Green, 064 Oatmeal, 063 Ochre, 065 Mid Brown, 066 Dark Oatmeal, 072 Beige, 083 Lilac, 084 Deep Violet).

Using silicone glue for dimension, I layered up the florals and butterflies and popped the bird behind them.

Finally, I stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant Labeled Messages, trimmed out the word I wanted (Dream) and adhered it over the flowers.

I decided to use the tin to store my "vintage" trinkets for future projects...

That's it from me for this week! I hope you enjoyed the project, and thanks very much for stopping by!

  3. This is such a pretty treasure chest, I love this much! I think you can also make some clear coat over the stamped to protect it. A very nice idea, thanks for inspireing us!
