What's Kraken?

Hi there and happy Thursday ! Lydia here with you today.

Today I thought I would share a fun and punny card with you.

I grabbed my Lawn Fawn 'Lovable Legends' (which is on special pricing at the moment so check it out!) , and stamped the cute kracken onto some card using light ink. I coloured it using Copics and then added pencil shading (Fabre-Castell Polychromos) for added detail and depth. Once coloured I added A Wink Of Stella over it and some glossy accents and left to dry.

The watercolour pieces I have found in my scrap draw and wanted to use them, I found two pieces that matched (sort of)- the darker more purple one I used for the sky and strip down the card and the more blue one I used for the sea.

I cut the 'sky' piece first using the middle die of  Lil Inker 'Circle Mats', I then cut four circles using the same die from the blue-y watercolour piece. I then cut these blue circles using Avery Elle 'Swim Team Dies' and stacked these up on the 'sky' circle.

The punny sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll see you again next week.

Hugs, Lydia x

Huge Thanks!!

Hi there :)

For today's card I have revisited the idea of using the MFT Balloon Strings background as water... you may remember I had seals bobbing about in the water last time :)
To make my ocean blue, I clear embossed the balloon strings on watercolour card and added a generous wash of water before dropping in watercolours in blues and aquamarines.

I cut a slit along one of the lines so I could tuck this jolly whale from Avery Elle's Swim Team into the ocean... he looks like he's surfacing to say hello and thank you :)  I do love the Swim Team Elle-ments die set that compliments these stamps... it contains some useful shapes for any watery scene. I used the seaweed shaped dies to add white waves around the whale and the main border to make a choppy ocean...

Hehe... it looks like we've spotted him through a telescope out at sea .... and a very shimmery sea as well thanks to a good spritz of perfect pearls mixed with water over the water coloured ocean :)

This would be another embossing technique you could use for our current monthly challenge... have you played along yet?

Thanks for stopping by :)

Whale-ly Big Shaker

Hello and happy Thursday!

I recently just got Avery Elle 'Whale Hello' and 'Swim Team Elle-ments' these sets work great together- and the die set would work with any sea/ocean type projects.

I thought it would be fun to use the sets for a large shaker- so thats what I have done. The whole front of my card is a shaker, but I cut some blue velum using the large wave from the Swim Team dies and added this ontop of the acetate part of the shaker, you can still see all the fun sequins and beads through the velum too.

The fun sentiment is from the Whale Hello set and it has such fun sentiments to go with the whale images.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you have a beautiful day.

Hugs Lydia xxx
