A Birthday Announcement!

Hello there, it's Jenny back again today. Apologies if you were expecting to see another edition of

 Found on Friday, fear not, it will return at the end of the month instead with a double edition 

as Tara is rather busy with the shop at the moment.

I have revisited the Oyez stamp set from Waffleflower today with a fun birthday card 

using the Town Cryer which I enjoyed colouring...

After colouring him I cut around him with scissors but a coordinating die set is available here.

For a background scene I used the buildings from Mama Elephants City Sidewalks which 

are stamped onto the card base. I masked them and sponged on 

a light blue sky and grey pavement.

I decided to leave the buildings uncoloured so our Town Cryer could take centre

 stage... I love the clean and simple design this gives too. The sentiment from the 

set just nestles snugly into the space.... I think this makes a great card for 

guys and its not often you can say that!

The Night Before Christmas

I’ve had a lot of fun making cards for Christmas these last couple of months. I really love the Little Agenda Santa and reindeer as they are so playful. The small size makes them quick to colour, which is definitely a bonus when making lots of cards.

I wanted to create a scene card, with Santa and his reindeer flying over the city. I chose to die cut a cover up frame from white card, then I coloured in the panels with distress oxides. 

I die cut an additional frame, then layered both onto a card base. This adds a little depth but not too much.

I added the top panel within the frame, along with the Santa in his sleigh and three reindeer, popped up with foam tape. I used a black fine-liner to draw in the reins.

For the panel at the bottom, I added some die cut buildings from the Mama Elephant City Sidewalks stamp set. I love the scripty sentiment stamps that are included in the set, which look like smoke rising from the chimneys. I heat embossed these in white on the panel, then added it to the card to finish.

I think this design would work well with a single stitched rectangle panel or frame too.

A Wintry View

 Hello there :)

I'm back with Christmas inspiration this week and one of those cards that perhaps isn't good for production line crafting but ideal for those special people we make cards for this time of year...

I've made a wintry scene using three different stamp sets and you open up 

the layers to reveal the view and greeting...

The first layer you open are the bench and lamp post from Lawn Fawns Winter in the Park which are just stamped in black ink and I used the matching dies for some partial die-cutting too.

This reveals the second layer which are very basic shaped trees from MFT's O' Christmas Tree.

I think the simple shading and bold shapes adds colour but not too much detail to compete

 with the final layer which is the town view...

All the images on this base layer are from Mama Elephants City Sidewalks... I love those buildings, so whimsy... so it totally doesn't matter that they seem to be very isolated in the wintry landscape Lol :) The sky is blended with distress inks over the white heat embossed greetings and moon, I then added dots with a white gel pen for some dainty snowflakes :)

The card is made up of three pieces, I thought it would be easiest to start at the front of the scene with the bench and lamp post layer so I could work backwards. I ended up with three panels like this 

 To attach them to the base panel I scored and folded a flap to make a hinge..

The card could support itself but I felt I should make a card stand to attach to the back which also helped to cover the hinges and marks where the copic marker had bled through.

I took a piece of card slightly larger than the base card so a small white border would show and then cut three sides of a rectangle to make a leg and then valley and mountain folded a strip of card to support that leg. I flipped it over and added tape adhesive like so...

Here's what it looks like all together..

It was a lot easier to make than it looks... making three separate pieces was the key to that. 

You could easily make it a winter card rather than Christmas or use foam tape for the layers instead of hinges and frame your scene for a piece of festive decoration.
