Persian Happy Birthday

Hey stampers, Anni here!

I tend to use the same colour scheme on every card! I have my go to colours that I feel comfortable with and that I reach to often. But from time to time I want to try something new and then Pinterest is my friend. I search fro colour combos and for this card actually flower colour combos and you get thousands and thousands of beautiful results. That is how I came up with this colour scheme: a dark red, an orangy red and a pink, combined with grey leafes.

I started my card by stamping Altenew's Persian Motifs - the very first Altenew set that I bought! And I still love it. Again I wanted to do some no line colouring. So I stamped with a pale ink. Then I coloured the flowers using watercolours.

For the sentiment I used Concord and 9th's Birthday Die. The birthday part I die cut several times from grey cardstock and stacked the letters up to achieve some dimension. For the word happy I chose some dark red cardstock matching the flowers. I love the combination of printed letters and script in this die set.
I added a layer of vellum under the die cuts to make it stand out more.

All there was left to do was to glue down the panel to the cardbase.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend!

Monogrammed Congratulations

Hi there everyone and happy Thursday! Lydia here with you today sharing a pretty and kinda modern wedding card.

I firstly stamped 2 clusters of flowers and leaves in black using images from Altenew 'Painted Flowers', this was my very first set fromAltenew and I still love and use it. I then stamped in the layers to the flowers using Altenew Crisp Ink- Frosted Pink and Cotton Candy for the pinks, Buttercream and Mango Smoothie for the yellows and Frayed Leaf for the leaves. I do love how soft this colour combo looks.

I then cut the 'm' from       from black card and some black foam and stuck the card on top of the foam shape to create a dimenional piece. I added a thin strip of card across the letter to help the sentiment stand out that I had stamped on vellum using a stamp from Altenew 'Persian Motifs'.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a beautiful day!

Hugs, Lydia x

Partial Die-Cutting and Combining Markers with Pencils

Good day, crafters! Thanks for stopping by today – I have a fun project for you showing you two techniques that will allow you to give your projects just that extra touch. One of them is partial die-cutting, and the other one is to combine two coloring mediums.

The partial die cutting technique is much easier than it appears. I know that I felt intimidated when I did it first, confused as to where to put my plates. If you do it a couple of times, though, you will see that it will become easier and easier each time and let's face it – partial die cutting just looks so cool!

As for coloring with both Copics and pencils – that's something I picked up from my crafty friend Marika, who is just the queen of this technique. I find two huge benefits using this technique:

  1. By adding a base shading with Copics, I need to work less with my colored pencils. It's much easier to color your image with very simple shading with Copics, and it is really fast. Then you can come in  with the pencils and just add shadows here and there without worrying about adding tons of layers or blending colors because underneath you already have a base layer.
  2. I am rater heavy handed, so adding in fine details with a pencil is much easier for me than trying to get in fine lines with a Copic marker. Also, Copic ink usually feathers just a little bit, but pencil lines never do and give me much more control.

To finish up a card, I always try to add little details that will make it stand out. Here, I opted for stark black ink for the sentiment because it gives great contrast, some black dots within the flower, a glitter border for sparkle, a light stamped background and a few embellishments. I kept all of them as subtle as I could so the focus would remain on the coloring and the sentiment; the rest is just the supporting cast ;)

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you had fun. Cheers! PS: If you want to see the coloring process, hop on over to my blog (link in the sidebar) to check out my video!
