Happy Belated Birthday

Hey stampers, Anni here!

I am back from vacation in France - it was so great!
When I go on vacations I always take something to colour with me. This year it was all about colouring with Distress reinker. I bet you will see many images that I coloured on vacation in my next posts.

Today I chose the smaller one from the cute sailing ships from Lawn Fawn's Smooth Sailing. I coloured it five times in rainbow order using the no line technique. The trick is to stamp with a light ink and create shadows with your colouring to define the shape. In this case it is quite easy as it is a simple shape. If you new to no line colouring start with those simpler shapes to get into this technique easily.

To create the ocean I took some vellum and die cut it with Mama Elephant's Ocean Waves Trio. Into these two pieces of vellum I die cut waves using Lawn Fawn's Ocean Wave Accents. These dies are perfect if you want to add waves in the inner part of the paper. Now I could slide the ships in the cut to make it look as they were really in the water. I also added "spray" with a white gel pen.

I wanted some colour on my vellum so I took the ink directly to the backside using Altenew's Lagoon ink from the Sea Shore Ink Cubes. You have to be careful as it dries very slowly on vellum. I used my heatgun and wiped the vellum with a paper towel.

To the vellum I also added the sentimet. As I missed some birthdays while I was on vacation I wanted to make a belated birthday card. I found a matching sentiment in Lawn Fawn's Hang in There set and heat embossed it in white.

As it is always difficult to adhere vellum without the glue showing I decided to add a frame to my scene. I die cut the biggest of My Favorite Things' A2 Rectangle Frames from white cardstock and adhered it with dimensional adhesive.

Do you take something to craft on vacation with you? Let me know, I am curious.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.

Sorry I'm Slow!

Hey stampers, Anni here!
If you believe it or not I didn't see Jill's card from last week's post before I made this card... Great minds think alike, don't they?

I started by creating a watercolour background. I didn't use any fancy watercolours, just some dye inks (which are fancy, too, of course). I pressed them on a piece of acetate, sprayed them with some water and smooched it onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. After it dried I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto it.

I stamped and coloured the sloth from Lawn Fawn's Set called Hang in There with coloured pencils. For the highlights I used a white gel pen. After fussy cutting (if you don't like fussy cutting you can use the matching dies, of course) I die cut a frame for the sloth. To create that frame I combined My Favorite Things Stitched Mini Scallop Circle STAX with a regular circle die.

I went for a aqua cardbase - usually I use only white cardbases - and assembled the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!

A Slow and Sorry Sloth.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week I'm saying sorry for being slow...

...with the help of this adorable little sloth from Lawn Fawn's new Hang In There set.

There are few things in life more embarrassing than missing a loved ones birthday, probably even more so for us card makers, but it certainly helps soften the blow if you make up for it with an uber cute card, and this set steps up to that mark perfectly!  I mean, everybody has a soft spot for the gorgeous sloth, don't they?
I started my card by stamping out my sweet sloth, watercolouring him using ink and fussy cutting.  I then cut a ton of Stitched Leaves from Lawn Fawn and, again, watercoloured with ink.
I cut a circle aperture from a panel of white card and built up my leaves behind, then added my sloth, hanging from his branch, so he was over-hanging the aperture.

I then took a cute little bloom of foliage from Lawn Fawn's Penelope's Blossoms and stamped it along the bottom of my panel, then stamped the sentiment from the Hang In There set, in black ink and clear heat embossed.
At this point I really liked how striking the green looked against the stark white so, after mounting onto a white card blank, decided to leave it there.

I love this new set, and have fell head over heels for this lovable guy!  I certainly hope he helps deliver my 'sorry I'm late' message with a smile!

I hope you like, as always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.

Jill
