Welcome Little One

Hey stampers, Anni here!

A friend of mine got a baby girl last week and I wanted to make a card for her. I LOVE to make baby cards, in fact Christmas cards and baby cards are my favorite to make. Of all cards I like creating cards for teenage boys and of course sympathy cards least.

I started by stamping the cutte little fox with an umbrella from Mama Elephant's Up an Away with My Favorite Things' Extreme Black Hybrid ink. I chose this ink because I wanted to colour with alcohol marker. Then I fussy cut the image (there are coordinating dies available).

When I make baby cards I like to personalize them and put a name on them. The little girl is called Nika. So I stamoed the letters using Lawn Fawn's Quinn's Abcs. I coloured them in the same colours I used for my focal image.

For the background I did some ink blending over My Favorite Things' Cloud stencil. I used inks matching the colours of the fox and the letters but in a much lighter shade. This way the image and the letters would not get lost on the background.

I die cut Avery Elle's Wonky Scalloped Frames dies from the background and a second time from white cardstock. I combined the white frame with the cloudy inside rectangle.

To go with the name of the baby I inked up a part of a sentiment I found in Avery Elle's Storybook. Actually the sentiment says Welcome Little One bt I wanted to say Welcome Little Nika.
Then I assembled the card.

So what about you? Do you have favourite occasions to make cards for? Let me know!

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.
Anni

Stretch your stencils and say what you want!

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I'm starting the year with a nice, bright and cheerful card to add a little light to these dark winter days (they don't half mess with my crafting time!)...

...using Echo Park's Hearts Stencils and Lawn Fawn's Quinn's abc's (lower case).

I LOVE this Heart's Stencil, and use it A LOT, so decided to stretch it's use and use the reverse side of it.  I spread and smudged my ink all over my actual stencil, spritzed it with water, and pressed my card onto it to pick up the print; an old but brilliant technique that means you get two designs for the price of one on all of your stencils!  Once dry, I took my Quinn's lower case abc's from Lawn Fawn, and cut my sentiment from the front, taking care to keep all the fiddly bits from inside the letters so I could add them back in.

I inked up another piece of card to use as my background, and adhered a piece of vellum behind my cut-out letters to mute the effect.  I inked another piece of card to match my background, and cut these gorgeous little sprigs using Reverse Confetti's Layered Laurel's Confetti Cuts to draw your eye in.  I added a wrap of twine and a little heart, cut using Paper Smooches Tiny Hearts and embossed in Silver Sparkle powder, to finish off my design.

I mounted my piece onto a card blank, and there you have it.

I really hope you like it, and I can't wait to see what amazing creations you all come up with in 2017!  As always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.

Negative die-cutting covered in cute critters!

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week I've got some negative die-cutting covered in a whole host of Lawn Fawn loveliness!

Using different sets from throughout the years;  one such set, Critters in the Burbs, goes waaaaay back, and has an emotional tie to me as it was my first EVER Lawn Fawn purchase...leading to an absolute love and addiction!

I started by cutting my 'hello' from a piece of card using Quinn's ABC's (lower case), then creating a little watercolour scene over the top using Zig Clean Colour Pens.  I then stamped out all the little critters I wanted to use, coloured them, again, using Zig Clean Colour Pens, and fussy-cut.  I flicked through all my Lawn Fawn sets to pick out some my all time favourite critters to use, so of course you could use anything.  I do love a good rummage through my collection.  It's easy to forget how awesome the older sets are, and deserve to be brought back to life!  My squirrel and rabbit are from the golden oldie, 'Critters in the Burbs', my little birdies are from 'Chit Chat', (nobody does cute birds as good as Lawn Fawn!), and my wriggly worm is from 'Bugs and Kisses'.

I wanted to make a real feature of my negative space, but didn't want to do my 'go-to' of making it into a shaker, so decided to make a really bright background to beam through and draw your eye in.  I used 'Gingham Backdrops' and a bright yellow ink spritzed with a little water.

I used Mama Elephant's 'Index Card Creative Cut' to cut my panel and a wee little frame from patterned paper, then adhered all my elements in place using foam adhesive for dimension.  The easiest way to make sure all the wee bits for your negative space go back in the correct place, is to pop the 'positive' piece back in, glue down the small 'negative' pieces, then pop the the positive back out...you with me :/
I loved the bright, clean, fun look to this card, so skipped any extra embellishments and left it there.

I really hope you like it, and that it maybe makes you want to rummage through some of your older sets and give em' a good inking!

As always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.
