Purrthday Party

Today I have a sweet 1st birthday card to share, featuring the adorable kitties from Lawn Fawn's Meow You Doin'.

I began by cutting a piece of white card to be the same size as my card base. On this, I used the Neat and Tangled Balloon stencil and distress oxide inks to add a rainbow of balloons across the top. I flicked the panel with some gold paint for some pretty splatters - almost like confetti falling.

In the middle of the panel, I die cut a MFT stitched star peekaboo window. I used a star shaker pouch and some pretty sequins to create a shaker, adhering the panel to the card base. I love the shaker pouches as they make shaker cards so quick and easy to do.

Next, I stamped and coloured some images from the Lawn Fawn Meow You Doin stamp set, then die cut them out. I adhered these to the card, adding some party hats and toys for the cats.

Finally, I added some die cut glitter stars and hearts, plus a '1' on top of the shaker star.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Ninja Stars

Hello, Gemma here and today I have a fun ninja card to share.

I started by working on the background. I die cut an MFT Stitched Mod Rectangle , then die cut three MFT stitched peekaboo star windows from the rectangle. This die leaves a nice stitched outline on the negative space. There are also MFT Mod Rectangles available without stitched lines.

I blended colour on to each star with distress oxide inks (cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, and twisted citron), then adhered the panel onto a card base and inlaid the stars back in the spaces.

Next, I stamped three of the Mama Elephant Tiny Ninjas and coloured them with alcohol markers. I love the sketchy style of these stamps and they don’t take long to colour. I die cut them with the coordinating dies, then added them to the card with foam tape.

Finally, I die cut a sentiment for the top of the card, and added some matching enamel dots.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Cheers to the New Year

This year seems to have gone by so fast! Hard to believe we'll be in 2018 in a few short weeks. With that in mind, I have a New Years card to share today.

I began with a square card base, then die cut a zig-zag square to go on the top. From that, I die cut a stitched star peek-a-boo window. You could easily turn this into a shaker card, using one of the fabulous MFT shaker pouches.

Next, I reached for one of my favourite stamp sets - Avery Elle Bunting. This was actually the first stamp set I bought when I started making cards again in 2015! I am still finding new ways to use it, too.

I reached for the stars, circles and starburst shapes from this set, and heat embossed them around the star with gold embossing powder.

Before adding the zig-zag square to the card base, I layered a piece of black card behind the star.

I added a gold glitter 'Cheers' word die over the top of the star. The black background really helps it stand out. If I made this again, though, I think I’d layer a few of the word die cuts for some more dimension.

To finish, I added some sequins for extra sparkle.

Thanks for joining me today and throughout the year.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
