Too much to choose from

It's always hard at this time of year to work out what to play with - there is sooooo much new stock arriving and I have a HUGE pile of yet to be inked stash on my desk already, but I am guilty of going new first every time!    So today I have a couple of cards using the new card kit stamps and dies from MFT and the new tiny box peacock/turkey dies from Lawn Fawn as I couldn't decide what I wanted to play with first!

The new card kit stamps, starburst die, banner dies and stencil from MFT are so perfect to play together so here I used everything to make a bright and happy celebration card.   I used the stencil first and blended a circle with a darker yellow centre to match the banner I die cut and stamped with the sentiment from the stamp set.   I used the die over the circle and then using the same darker yellow ink I inked up HALF of the circle burst patter and stamped it twice - either side of the die cut lines and then flipped it 180 and did the same on the bottom of the burst so I filled the patter with more rays.   I then used some dots of Lawn Fawns new liquid stardust - the idea of this product is to mix it with paint to make it sparkly, but you can use it like glitter glue (although it does take over 24 hours to fully dry if used neat)

For my second card I just couldn't wait to make a peacock - not surprising that something in green and teal would be my first choice right!   Although this die set is an add-one to the tiny box die so has been designed to make little peacock or turkey gift boxes, you can use them for cards too and they come out super cute!

I die cut him from 3 shades of hero arts card stock - pesto for the base of his feathers, Adriatic for his body and wings, and mustard for the rings around the eyes in his feathers - the eyes themselves and the feathers on his head I cut from glitter card from the Concord and 9th Summer Glitter pack.   The sentiment comes from the Lawn Fawn Peacock Before 'n After stamp.  I framed it all with the A2 Frame dies from MFT.   He'd be super cute on a wobbler so he actually shook his tail feathers (why do we always have a great after thought once we glue sometime down lol!)

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We will be closed tomorrow for the bank holiday in the UK - the store is open for ordering, but nothing will be processed until Tuesday.

We will add the Hero Arts Winter catalogue this week as well as some papers, and co-ordinating folders, stencils, washi tapes from Echo Park/Carta Bella.   Otherwise it will be a quieter week for new stock and will allow us to work on some restock orders.

Catch you later

Golden Classic

I made this card a couple of weeks ago for a friend who is a music fan and
seeing as the fab Greatest Hits stamps and dies are now
back in stock I thought I'd share it with you.

I love the Classic reference in this sentiment so I thought I should
pair it with a golden disc in a frame...

I've cut the record from gold mirri card and used one of the sentiments for the centre.
To add some extra background detail, I cut the Musical Cover Plate in black card
and then used a few of the notes in a random pattern behind the disc.

The sentiment is embossed in gold... top tip... do this before you attach the mirri card
disc as it doesn't like heatguns!! 😉 ( I learn't the hard way!)

The Rectangle frame is also cut in Gold Mirri card and the whole piece mounted
onto a card base which has red ink blended around the edges... Gold Mirri card and
red are probably the two worst colours/textures to photograph
and I've put them both on the same card!! 🙄

Lets just say it looks better in real life!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Someone Wonderful

I've got a simple card to share today using one of the awesome new floral designs from Danielle Donaldson at Stamping Bella - in this instance Tumble Blossom Cluster which is such a fun design to colour.

I stamped it with versamark ink onto smooth heavyweight cartridge paper and embossed it with gold and then used my Altenew water colours to paint it very loosely (I am not the greatest with paints so love that embossing holds it in the lines for you and you can just flood each area with colours nice an easy!)

Altenew paints are so heavily pigmented that I found the water I washed the blue off with had enough colour in it to paint a soft fade out background around it (waste not want not right!) so I used that and then finished with another waste not product - the frame came from the "waste" between the frames I cut using the MFT A2 Frame dies without cutting them apart.

The sentiment was stamped and embossed onto the central panel from the same die cut sheet and comes from the Friendly Foxes stamp from MFT.

If you've not checked out Danielle's Collection then head to our Stamping Bella page for a browse.

Happy Birds

Despite the cool weather this weekend Spring is with us and the season for
weddings too so I had this MFT Birds of a Feather die set in mind to
use with two birdie's as a symbolic couple...

I wanted to keep the die cuts white and use a window panel over an ink blended
area on the card base. I started by cutting the smallest A2 Rectangle frame and adhering
the birds to the outside. I cut a few leaf fronds and arranged them into the aperture from behind
the frame and glued them in place.. adding a few flowers too.

I cut and stacked two more frames behind the piece to sandwich the
leaves to give strength and dimension before trimming off the excess foliage .
The little heart was given the glitter treatment and a sentiment
added from Wplus9 Strictly Sentiments 2

It's quite a clean & simple design which can be changed up by using a different colour behind
the birds and would work equally well as an engagement card too :)
