Rainbow Stripes

Hello, Gemma here today to share a card featuring a rainbow background. I actually made the background several months back, but then I got stuck and was unsure where to go next. When this happens, I prefer to put the project aside and come back to it another time.

I used the Altenew Watercolour Stripes stencil and some lovely distress oxides to create the background. I added the colour straight onto the card base. I then flicked the background with a mix of gold perfect pearls and water.

When I came back to the panel recently, I decided to allow the background to be the star and just add a simple sentiment over the top.

I die cut a Lawn Fawn stitched square from white card, and gold heat embossed a greeting from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday stamp set.

I layered it with foam tape over a larger vellum stitched square, then adhered it to the rainbow card base.

I finished by adding some Neat and Tangled Like Magic sequins in different sizes around the card.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Square Necessities

A rainbow of colour always makes me smile! My card today features brightly coloured squares and some fun Waffle Flower stamp sets.

By masking stamped images, you can add bold colour around them and really make them stand out. I just love removing the masks to see the images behind!

This technique works best with outline images. Offset the stamped images on the squares, rather than in the centre, to add some additional interest.

I used full post it notes to create the masks, stamping then fussy cutting them out. If you have matching dies, you could use these to create a mask, but fussy cutting helps to minimise the white space around the images.

I chose some fun bright inks and blended them onto the squares. I've used distress inks but other inks will work well for this technique.

I used foam tape behind the squares to add dimension, then added a die cut sentiment on top. I layered a black die cut word over a silver glitter die cut word to help it stand out.

I think this design can work for so many occasions. Change the colours (an ombré would look great), switch the sentiment and stamps used to create a different look.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Waving Hello

Today I have an under the sea present shaker card to share.

I began by die cutting four squares from a piece of white card. On the reverse side, I added a piece of acetate behind the windows. Then I layered foam tape to create upper and lower shaker sections to the present.

I put more foam tape all over the back of the card, then added some Neat & Tangled Mermaid Tail sequins in the shaker areas. To seal the shaker, I used a piece of blue watercolour paper.

I added the shaker to a white card base. To create the look of a present, I used some twine between the shaker windows and a twine bow at the top.

Finally, I coloured and cut out some images from the Lawn Fawn Mermaid For You stamp set. I added these to the card, along with a sentiment from the same set.

Thanks for joining me today.

Seasons

I love to see all the beautiful blossom on the trees in spring. The changing seasons each have their own beauty, and that inspired my card today.

On a piece of white card, I first used the Lil'Inker Quilted Swirl Stitched pattern die to add some pretty detail before die cutting the tree tops from the MFT Trees in the Forest die-namics.

I had a similar idea for the tree trunks and branches, using the Lil'Inker stitched woodgrain cover die to add detail first. They ended up being too small to really see the detail of the cover die, but the idea would work well for larger tree dies, I'm sure.

Next, I used MFT inks to add colour to the die cuts. For the winter trees, I kept them white but added some clear glitter to represent snow.

I created four square frames by die cutting two of the Lawn Fawn Stitched Squares together. To add some colour behind the frames, I die cut some squares from a piece of blue MFT watercolour wash paper.

I layered the frames and background papers, then added them to the card with foam tape. Then I attached the trees to the card with liquid adhesive.

Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the MFT Essential Sentiments stamp set.

Thanks for joining me today.

Happy Birthday Centrepiece

Today I'm using the MFT Birthday Centrepiece dienamic. This die is great for a focal piece on a card, and it's also perfect for shaker cards!

For me, I've found this die works best on square cards, so I began by creating a 4 inch square card base.

From another piece of card, I die cut the centrepiece dienamic, and cut it down again with a stitched square die. I then blended on some blue ink.

Next, I stamped and coloured a cat from the MFT Cool Cat stamp set. This is my favourite from the set as it reminds me of my two fluffy cats. I fussy cut the image out, then decided he needed a balloon on his tail. The balloon is from the Lawn Fawn Elphie Selfie stamp set.

Behind the centrepiece, I layered some coordinating patterned paper. At this point, you could turn it into a shaker card, but I decided to keep things simple. I put foam tape behind the cat, then added him to the card.

...and if you're making one card, you may as well make three, right? So that's just what I did!

Have a lovely day!

Saying Thanks with Bunting

Today I am sharing cards I made using an older set from Avery Elle. Actually, this was the first set I bought when I started making my own cards again last year, and it's still one of my favourites.

I die cut a stitched square using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Squares die set.  On the die cut square, I heat embossed the bunting in gold. I added a die cut gold glitter bow from the coordinating die set.

Next, I die cut a 'thanks' from gold glitter paper. This is from the Avery Elle Sentimental set, another favourite of mine. I adhered this under the bunting, then stamped a greeting from the set underneath.

I added everything to a 4 inch white notecard and made a coordinating envelope. As this was a simple card to make, I made another in silver colours.

I think a set of these notecards would make a lovely gift.

Have a lovely day.
