Curious Cat

Today I have a cute card to share, featuring some lovely MFT products.

Cool Cats is an older set from MFT and I just love these sweet images. Included in the set is the cat face with another image showing the same cat shown in full from the back. These can be used together, to make the card inside a part of the scene.

I began by trimming down an A6 card base. I want the card to still fit in a standard C6 envelope, so the card needs to be shorter to allow for the cat at the top.

On another piece of card, I die cut the MFT Stitched Strip dienamic to add some interest. I left space at the bottom for a stamped sentiment from the Cool Cats stamp set.

I die cut some small paw prints from the panel, using the MFT Paw Prints die set, then layered a piece of patterned paper behind the panel and added both to my card base.

Next, I coloured the stamped images of the cats, then adhered the top of them together with liquid glue. I positioned them over the top of the card, then added more liquid glue to stick them down. To give the cat on the inside something to stand on, I added a strip of the same patterned paper under his feet.

At this point, I felt like the card was missing something. I thought I’d give the cat something to be looking at, so I added the fish bowl above the sentiment as a finishing touch.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Happy Birthday Centrepiece

Today I'm using the MFT Birthday Centrepiece dienamic. This die is great for a focal piece on a card, and it's also perfect for shaker cards!

For me, I've found this die works best on square cards, so I began by creating a 4 inch square card base.

From another piece of card, I die cut the centrepiece dienamic, and cut it down again with a stitched square die. I then blended on some blue ink.

Next, I stamped and coloured a cat from the MFT Cool Cat stamp set. This is my favourite from the set as it reminds me of my two fluffy cats. I fussy cut the image out, then decided he needed a balloon on his tail. The balloon is from the Lawn Fawn Elphie Selfie stamp set.

Behind the centrepiece, I layered some coordinating patterned paper. At this point, you could turn it into a shaker card, but I decided to keep things simple. I put foam tape behind the cat, then added him to the card.

...and if you're making one card, you may as well make three, right? So that's just what I did!

Have a lovely day!

A Prickly Pun

Hi there and happy Monday morning to you all :)

I have another fun... or should I say 'pun' card today!! This time, inspiration came in the form of artwork on Pinterest so I take no credit for making this pun up but just loved the idea of using a couple of stamp sets to illustrate it :)

Yes its a 'Catcus' :) I know.... it's so easy to say, that I now can't not say it that way round!!

I used the plumpest cat from MFT's Cool Cats that would fit in a pot from the Sweet Succulents set and used a bit of masking to plant him up... I decided against including his tail because he didn't look right with it.

I used three shades of markers to make him look 'cactus like' and added spines with a white gel pen. To give him some company I stamped a couple of succulents in the background and set him on a black strip of card alongside the custom made phrase which I used alphabet stamps for. Sometimes its okay to not put a sentiment on a card.

I did think of doing a whole group of cat shaped cacti but I didn't think the
pun worked as well in the plural... what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by :)
