Happy Birthday Stripes

Hello, Gemma here today, sharing a quick and simple birthday card.

The Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set is a favourite of mine. I love the variety of fonts in this set, which give so many possibilities. I thought it would be fun to use lots of them on a card.

To create a place for the sentiments to sit, I first used the Altenew Watercolour stencil and some distress oxides to add stripes to a card base. I used blueprint sketch, twisted citron, wild honey and antique linen.

I then used my stamp positioner to help me stamp all the sentiments in the stripes. The stamp positioner is useful for allowing several lines to be stamped at once, speeding up the design. I also like to double stamp to get a darker impression.

This design would is perfect for recreating in different colours, or using with different sentiments you may have in your collection.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Rainbow Stripes

Hello, Gemma here today to share a card featuring a rainbow background. I actually made the background several months back, but then I got stuck and was unsure where to go next. When this happens, I prefer to put the project aside and come back to it another time.

I used the Altenew Watercolour Stripes stencil and some lovely distress oxides to create the background. I added the colour straight onto the card base. I then flicked the background with a mix of gold perfect pearls and water.

When I came back to the panel recently, I decided to allow the background to be the star and just add a simple sentiment over the top.

I die cut a Lawn Fawn stitched square from white card, and gold heat embossed a greeting from the Mama Elephant Scripty Bday stamp set.

I layered it with foam tape over a larger vellum stitched square, then adhered it to the rainbow card base.

I finished by adding some Neat and Tangled Like Magic sequins in different sizes around the card.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Celebrate with Orchids

I have a floral card to share today. I haven't reached for my floral sets much recently, so it was nice to use the Altenew Oriental Orchid set again.

I only used two layers of the orchid layering set this time - the outline and a detail layer, which I stamped with a pink ink. I used the Wink of Stella clear glitter over the top, which pulled some of the pink out to the rest of the flower. I stamped and coloured two leaves, then cut everything out.

On the card base, I used masking tape to create a rectangle in the middle. I then blended colour over the Altenew watercolour stencil. This is a quick and effective way to add a pop of colour to a background.

I flicked it with water for some detail, then layered the orchids on to the card base. I used tape runner, rather than foam tape, so it isn't too bulky.

I added a sentiment from the Altenew Celebrate stamp set - a fab set of sentiments for a great price. I plan on keeping the inside of the card blank, so this card could be used for many occasions.

Thanks for joining me today. Have a lovely week,
Gemma
