Flowers on Kraft

Hey stampers, Anni here!

My favourite thing to put on a card are cute critters. But I also love flowers on a card and for most of the recipients flowers are more fitting than cute little bears or ducks and so on.

So I decided to go for flowers for today's card again. And the set I chose is Concord & 9th's Wildflower.
I stamped the flowers with a very light ink on kraft cardstock overlapping. There was no need for masking the flowers because I used such a light ink and the lines would be covered later.

For the colouring I used pencils. I used shades of pink and coral but also white to make the colours pop. I knew I wanted to die cut the frame from dark brown cardstock so I added this colour to the centres of the flowers.

For the frame I used Concord & 9th's Happy Card Frame Die. This is a really genius die: The frame doesn't cut all the frame but leaves a space where you can die cut then the word happy or a rose.
I went through my stash to find a "birthday" that would match the happy and found one in Lawn Fawn's Simply Sentiments.

What is your favourite subject to put on a card? Let me know.
Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend!

Spreading the Seeds of Summer

Hi, Jenny here and I've gone floral today with a card and gift of the growing kind!!

We have a large area of Californian Poppies in our front garden, they survive so well in the gravel driveway and just love the hot sun and dry conditions... I suppose the clue is in the name Californian eh?!!!

Last weekend I collected quite a few seed pods so I could pass some onto my daughter to plant in her own garden and this sparked a crafty idea.....

I thought I'd make a small vellum seed packet and attach it inside a card...

I love all those sunny hot shades the poppies come in so for the front of the card I used the Wildflower set by Concord&9th to watercolour my own. I used the largest flower and stamped it in shades of yellow and orange distress inks so the outlines would blend in when I added the colour. You can still just about see the lines which adds texture to the petals I think..

I used a small sprig from the same set to make the leaves, I had to embellish a little with my brush to give them the 'fern like' shape..... I used the same stamp to make a subtle pattern on the green background panel too.

I used vellum to make a very simple envelope for the seeds and adhered it together using strips of Stick It... it's a brilliant glue for vellum and a good use for your left over scraps from the bigger sheets. I stamped a flower and leaves in pigment ink on the vellum and clear embossed them so I didn't have to worry about the ink drying.

Next comes the seeds.... Oh boy did they travel across the worktop!!!
The seed heads had been languishing in a paper bag for a week in our conservatory which
resulted in them pinging open and propelling the seeds...... luckily the bag contained
them but they really spring open with force!!

I thought the easiest way to attach the seed packet was a couple of small holes and a piece of twine.

I found the perfect sentiments in Mama Elephants Everyday Greetings and
Altenew's Garden Grow stamp sets :)

Phew! that was a lot of photos... hope you're still with me ;)
Our daughter was delighted with the seeds and hopefully they'll produce a lovely
show of colour in her garden too!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Make Your Sentiment 'Pop' With A White Pen

Hi there everyone! Lydia here with you this morning. Here in North Wales the weather is pretty dismal, so if the weather where you are is the same I have a card that will hopefully brighten your day a little.

Concord & 9th 'Wildflower' set reminds me of more tropical florals so I decided to stamp like a jumgle-y type scene to frame my sentiment.

I stamped and masked my flowers to get the clusters that I wanted. I then coloured them with Copics and added a little shading to the larger flowers using pencils.

For the sentiment I used Concord & 9th 'Beautiful You' dies cut from black card. Where the sentiment overlapped the image I took a white gel pen and went around the letters covering over the image, this helps the sentiment 'pop' more and not get lost in the busy image.

I hope you feel a little brighter after this and try using a white gel pen to get your sentiment to stand out from the background.

Hugs Lydia x

High Contrast Card with Concord & 9th

Hi crafty friends! What to do with leftovers? Of course I didn't want to throw them out after all the work I had put into creating them – mainly cutting them out!

Since my first project with them was a very airy, bright card I decided to go the opposite direction now and use a black card base and work with contrast. I arranged the flowers and then used glue and some foam tape to adhere them along the edge. They were originally overhanging to the side, but I cut off whatever was off of the card base and used some of those snippets and added them to the card in another place. Talk about re-purposing :)

I heat embossed the sentiment from Being Classy with gold embossing powder and then used the Being Classy dies to cut the word and adhered it to the card base. I added some confetti, but also lots of white dots and some crosses with my Stardust gel pen, which makes it look like sparkle.

I really like how this card turned out, especially compared to the first project I did with those flowers. It just shows how the same stamps can be used in very different ways to create cards that look wildly different.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!

A Colorful Floral Bouquet

Hi crafty friends! Today I have a card which was inspired by the wonderful, unique, funny, and insanely talented Laura Bassen.

As you can see, it's the flowers that stole my heart: I stamped a whole bunch of them on sturdy card stock with Versamark ink, then heat embossed the images with white embossing powder. Thanks to my Distress Inks, I could easily add color on top since the embossing powder resists the ink. Then came the part where I had to fussy cut all of it out, which took a toll on my hands, but it just looks so PRETTY!

Before I proceeded, I die cut a window with the My Favorite Things Scallop Stitched Circles into a panel of white card stock and stamped the sentiment from Concord & 9th's Being Classy set through that opening on my card base, then adhered the front panel with foam tape for some dimension. Before adhering the flower, I sprayed them gently with Perfect Pearls to get some beautiful shimmer.

As a last touch, I added some sequins to my card in colors that mirrored the colors of the florals and of course I couldn't help myself but add a few dots with my Stardust gel pen.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!
