Mini Skating Mouse Snow Globe Tag

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Friday!

Winter is starting to set in in these parts - you can definitely feel the chill in the air! Whilst colder temperatures aren't exactly my favourite thing, there are a few fun things that this season brings - Christmas being one of them! I love creating for Christmas, with gift tags being a particular favourite - they're little little mini works of art!

I decided to pull out a few Lawn Fawn goodies to create a shaped gift tag using the Snow Globe Gift Tag Die set and the Mice On Ice stamp set:

Super cute, right?!

I started die cutting my tag using a folded piece of cardstock. I placed the top edge of the die just above the fold to create a shaped tag that also opens up! I also die cut the two globe base accent pieces and set them aside for the time being.

I stamped the mouse using a pale ink then pulled out my colouring pencils to create a no-line coloured scene! So adorable! I added some dots of white paint, tipped on some embossing powder and heat embossed for some beautiful snow before doing a pale watercolour wash for the sky!

Remember those pieces I set aside? I heat embossed them with gold embossing powder, embossed the top of the tag too by taking my Versamark inkpad direct-to-paper, and then adhered the bottom pieces in place using Multi Matte Medium. Some added sparkly ribbon and string completed the look!

I'd love to hear what you think of this creation. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Peace, Love and Joy Reindeer Scenes

Hello, Tallie here with some more Christmas inspiration.

It's an MFT week for me and at first I thought I was going to have to bin these backgrounds before they ever made it to a card base. Sometimes, you just have to keep going and it turns out okay in the end! I used three different MFT products: Peace, Love and Joy stencil, Reindeer Games stamp set and the Bitty Holiday Wishes sentiments.

I started out by inking some Versamark ink over the MFT Peace, Love and Joy stencil onto a white card panel. For the first one, I tried not taping it down to my surface whilst inking and I didn't get a very good impression on the card - this one I actually used for the second card presented further below. For my second try, I used some washi tape to fix the stencil and panel down to my surface, carefully making sure the ink covered all the stencil. I then clear heat embossed it using some Lawn Fawn Clear Embossing Powder. The end result was not completely perfect, but I liked the distressed-not-perfect look I ended up with.

I used my favourite winter sky Distress Ink combination to blend on some ink: Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio.

For the focal images, I stamped out the reindeer, trees and cardinal from the Reindeer Games stamp set. I coloured these in with my alcohol markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I popped these up with some foam tape and layered them over a simple die cut circle (this happened to be the centre of a Merry Christmas Circle Frame but any circle die will work) in the centre of the background panel.

The sentiments were stamped from the MFT Bitty Holiday Wishes set with some VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, clear heat embossed and cut into small strips. A little foam tape makes them stand out from the background panel underneath the main focal images.

I turned the first, almost-failed panel into another card. So a lesson for me today - don't give up before you at least try it out!

Thanks for reading, catch you next week.

Tropical Birthday Pals

Hello, Tallie here. I have a bright birthday card today featuring the Avery Elle Peek-a-Boo Summer Pals set. Perfect for our recent summery weather!

I started by stamping out the toucan, frog and flamingo (and their coordinating arms/legs/wings!) from the set with some MFT Extreme Black ink onto some blending cardstock. I coloured them in with my alcohol markers, sticking to realistic but bright colours. I cut these out with the coordinating dies.

On a white A6 top-folding card base I inked on some Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink using the Hero Arts Tile Pattern stencil for a subtle background. On three other panels, I used Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Scattered Straw and Gathered Twigs, cutting these out with n MFT Inside & Out Stitched Circle dienamic and a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border die. This I arranged in a scene over the stenciled background.

The sentiment is comprised of two parts. The first is a white heat embossed sentiment from the MFT Essential Sentiments set - this is a good staple for all sorts of greetings. The bigger 'birthday' sentiment I made by stacking several of the MFT Cause for Celebration dies, with the top layer inked with the blue Distress Inks I used on the background.

Thanks for reading, catch you next week!

Let's Shell-ebrate!

Hello, Tallie here. I have a manatee-rific card for you today!

I started out by stamping out the manatees and scenery from the Lawn Fawn Manatee-rific set onto some blending cardstock with some MFT Extreme Black ink. I coloured these in with my alcohol markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I then die cut a piece of A6 Lawn Fawn Mermaid Cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Finlay's ABCs. I used an Everyday Sentiment Banner die to cut out the banner and stamp the 'SHELL-EBRATE!' sentiment.

I used a bit of Broken China Distress Ink on the background above the die cut letters to give some interest to the scene and arranged my scene towards the top of the card.

A simple and cute card for any shell-ebration!

Thanks for reading, catch you next week.

A Family of Dragons

Hello, Tallie here.

My card today is inspired by those fun-loving dragons from a rocky town called Berk! I love these cute little dragons from the Mama Elephant sets Me and My Dragon and Dragon Wishes.

I stamped this family of dragons out with some MFT Extreme Black Ink onto some blending cardstock. I actually only used 8 markers from the cool greys - probably the least amount of markers I have used in a while! Some dot detail helped to add some texture details for scales.  There are coordinating dies available.

For the background scene, I coloured three panels with Distress Inks. I used Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron for the grass, Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain for the hills and Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon for the sky. I wasn't too smooth with my blending as it helps to give texture to the scene. I used two different dies to cut out the panels - Lawn Fawn Grassy Border and Mama Elephant Kingdom Trio. I stacked these onto a white top-folding A6 card panel.

I stamped out the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from the MFT Essential Sentiments onto the front grassy panel before popping up the dragons on some foam tape. I arranged the scene so Mum and Dad are in the air with the kiddies scattered around.

A few sequins in the sky and some gel pen detail to the dragons finished off this card!

Just a Wild Note to Say...

Hello, Tallie here and a happy Wednesday! I'm back today with this cute little birthday scene card featuring the Wild Ones stamp set from Neat & Tangled and a couple of Lawn Fawn and MFT products.

I started out by stamping the giraffe, monkey, tortoise and bird from the Neat & Tangled Wild Ones set with some MFT Extreme Black Ink onto some blending cardstock. I then coloured these in with my Copic markers, sticking to bright colours and a couple of accent colours. I cut these out with the coordinating dies.

I inked up two panels, one with Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Ink and the other with Broken China and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. I find for scenes like this the Distress Inks are more vibrant than the Oxides, though you do have to work harder to get a smooth blend. I used a Lawn Fawn Simple Grassy Hillsides Border die to cut the green panel twice for some layered grass pieces. I used the MFT Cloud Stencil to add some detail to the otherwise empty blue background panel.

I used a mixture of foam tape and liquid adhesive to put the scene together, finishing off with sentiments from the Lawn Fawn Critter Concert set so the greeting continued on the inside: 'JUST A LITTLE NOTE TO SAY ... HOPE YOU HAVE AN AWESOME DAY!'

This card is perfect for a kid's birthday with the animals and bright colours!

Thanks for reading, catch you next week.

Birthday Pals

Hello, Tallie here. Whilst the weather turns chilly here in the UK I needed a bright and colourful birthday card to cheer up my Nan. The Avery Elle Party Pals stamp set has some purrrrfectly cute little cats!

I started by smooshing some Broken China and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks onto some watercolour paper. I built up the layers until I was happy with the texture and die cut using an MFT Inside & Out Circle STAX Dynamics die. I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border Die on the green circle to layer over the blue sky background.

I stamped out the two kitties, the 'HAPPY' banner, a star and a heart from the Avery Elle Party Pals stamp set and the party hats from the Avery Elle Peek-a-Boo Pals set, in some MFT Extreme Black Ink onto some blending cardstock and coloured them in with my alcohol markers. I stuck to bright, happy colours in rainbow order.

I fussy cut the items out and stamped the two sentiments so I could arrange them on my card base.

Thanks for reading, stay warm and catch you next week!

Ready, Set, Snowboard!

Hello, Tallie here. I won't get to visit the slopes this year so here's a frosty themed birthday card featuring the MFT Ready, Set, Snow stamp set. This one is for my brother, who unlike me, will shortly be visiting the snowy slopes!

I started with the background for this card, blending on some Distress Inks in Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans. To add many layers of snow, I used a combination of white paint and a toothbrush, and a white gel pen. This one turned out looking more like a night sky, so maybe this bear is going for a night board? :)

On another panel, I stamped out the bear, the snow puff and a couple of the trees with some MFT Extreme Black Ink. I used some Post-It Notes to mask the smaller tree so I could stamp the larger tree behind and a black pen to add some of the extra lines. I then coloured these in with my alcohol markers, sticking to warm greys for the bear and blue-greens for the snow.

I fussy cut around the bear, trees and the slope so I could mount the scene on some foam tape and add some dimension. I stamped out the 'HAPPY BRRRTHDAY' sentiment from the Ready, Set, Snow set onto the panel before I mounted it to the card base background.

A few last little touches with a white get pen to add some details to the scarf and board, and some Glossy Accents for the goggles finishes it off.

Thanks for reading, catch you next week.
