Rose Gold with Pink and Navy

Rose gold, pink and navy... what a beautiful combination!

This colour combination was my starting point for this card. I decided to make my own background using the Flora and Fauna Texture and Texture Two stamp sets. I used a combination of ink and embossing for the stripy background.

Using a rounded rectangle die, I cut down the panel and added it to a card base.

I die cut a balloon and string from the Concord & 9th Happy Balloons die set, from some glitter paper. To soften the background behind, I added a vellum layer underneath.

The greeting is from the coordinating stamp set, stamped in navy blue ink to match the colour scheme.

I finished the card by adding a few glitter hearts, using a die from the same set.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Inspired by the May Challenge

My card today is inspired by the May challenge over on the SHC VIPs Facebook group. I love the inspiration photo with the rainbow colours and bold sentiment.

I began by working on the background. On a white card base, I repeatedly stamped an image from the Flora and Fauna Texture Two stamp set. I used a rainbow selection of distress oxide inks, trying to vary the length of the stamping to add interest.

For the sentiment, I die cut the word ‘celebrate’ several times from black card, using the Altenew Simple Alphas die set. I love the font and size of this alphabet set.

I layered three of each letter together to create some dimension. On the top layer, I added some sparkle with the Wink of Stella clear glitter pen.

Next, I cut a rectangle piece of vellum and used my grid mat to space out the letters as evenly as possible. I adhered the letters to the vellum, and then the vellum to the card.

Finally, I added a layer of glossy accents to each letter. I’ll admit that this step was a bit messy as I’m not the best with glossy accents. I always seem to put my finger in it! I think it turned out alright this time and I love how it accentuates the glitter on the letters.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you’ll feel inspired to join in with the competition too.

Triangle Patterns

I have a fun geometric card to share today. I love geometric patterns and I think they are perfect for masculine cards.

I'm really enjoying using stencils more at the moment, so I reached for the MFT Triangles stencil and my favourite distress oxide inks

To add some interest, I also used some patterns from the Flora and Fauna Texture Two set, stamping them through the stencil to create patterned triangles. As well as being easy to blend, the distress oxides stamp very well.

I created three rows of triangles, increasing them in size for each row. I then added a birthday sentiment in black ink above to finish this one layer card.

Thanks for joining me today,

18th Birthday with Texture Two

Today I’m sharing a card I made for an 18th birthday. I wanted to create a fun patterned background so chose the Flora and Fauna Texture Two stamp set.

I die cut a stitched rounded rectangle from white card, then stamped different patterns from the set with some MFT inks. To add a pop of metallic to the card, I heat embossed some patterns in gold.

To bring more of the colours from the stamping into the card, I used the Lil’Inker Designs deco edges to trim the white card panel, then added some more deco edges in gold glitter paper and blue card to the top and bottom of the panel. I then added this to a white card base.

For the balloon, I decided to only use the border of one of the C&9th Happy Balloons die set, as I wanted the background to show behind. I die cut it from the same blue card as the border.

I used another great C&9th die set to add an '18' to the balloon, in gold glitter paper. I also added the balloon string and tassel. To finish, I added a few sequins.

Thanks for joining me today,

Gemma
