Flowers for Mum

I'm getting ahead of myself today with a Mother's Day card but these beautiful
wildflowers could be for any occasion. I've used the new Sizzix Wildflower Stems dies,
I couldn't resist these detailed dies which come to life when you add colour....

I've cut the stems from Smooth Bristol card but any watercolour card could be used.
I left the die-cuts in place whilst I watercoloured, them very loosely I might add. I dabbed
and swiped the paint onto the wildflowers and left the layers to dry partially before adding
more intense colours and shades.... not worrying about the hard edges between layers.

As you can see from the above shot it's not a neat style which I love about the design....
even the yellow paint running on the daisy head looks fab :)

When the pieces were dry I removed them carefully from the cardstock and then
arranged them on a card base which had been treated with paints splatters.
I used wet glue to adhere the stems but they are not stuck completely so the
raised edges give that bit of dimension needed

The sentiment is from Avery Elle's So Happy.... I think the
handwritten font is a perfect match for this arty design.

Love you More than Ice Cream

I'm filling the void left by Jill's departure for a couple of weeks whilst I read through all the applications we got to replace her.  Picking a new team member is never easy so bear with me.

So today I have a personal card to share - the one I send my hubby for our anniversary last week using a stamp that is just perfect for me as ice-cream is just about my favourite thing to eat ever!

I used Stamping Bella's new Harper Goes Headfirst from the Uptown Girls range which isn't necessarily the first image you'd think of for an anniversary card, but paired with my handwritten sentiment (I made it last minute and ran out of time to stamp it!) then it gets the message across cos anything I love more than ice-cream is very much loved indeed!

I simply stamped the image onto white card stock and coloured it with copics using my wedding dress for the colours.  The Happy Anniversary comes from my old favourite Avery Elle sentiment set called So Happy which was stamped in Galactic Stream from AlteNew's Sweet Dreams ink set

That's all for today - I'll have some more projects to share on Sunday so see you then!

Anniversary Owls

Hello, Jenny here to start the week off with a couple of cute owls.... these were fun to
colour and they have the funniest expressions too :)

I thought these two looked like a happy couple for an anniversary card ...
okay, so Mrs Owl looks a lot more enthusiastic than Mr Owl!!
To help make them the focal point I used a stitched dome frame and a older branch and leaves die
set from my stash.  I thought it would look good bushing out beyond the frame.

The cloudy sky behind the owls has been sponged using a stencil and I added a sentiment from
Avery Elles So Happy stamp set...

To finish off, I added a tiny red heart.... well an Anniversary card isn't complete without one is it!! :)

A Simple Flower Bouquet

Hi there :)

My card today uses the new(ish) stamp set from Altenew called Simple Flowers... it's just fabulous, and 'simple' is exactly what they are. I love the bold solid shapes that can be used for lots of pattern making too. I do like flowers but have to say that I tend to go for this kind of stamp set over the detailed line images...

I decided to make a simple cluster of flowers on stems to pop through the Rectangle Peek-a-boo window which is currently out of stock but any aperture die would work here.

These stamps don't have a matching die set but the shapes are really quite easy to trim around.
The hardest part is deciding on a pretty colour palette and arranging them 😉

The sentiment is made using the letters cut from Reverse Confetti's Happy Pretty Panel die
and part of a sentiment from Avery Elle's So Happy.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
