Sending a Smile Your Way

Today I have an acetate window card to share, which was inspired by a YouTube video from MFT design team member Stephanie. I love the look of the acetate window cards she created with the MFT Sending a Smile stamp set, so I thought I’d have a go at making my own version.

I began by die cutting the Blueprints 27 frame and grid from white card stock. I also die cut the grid from the front of a card base. I added a blend of distress oxide ink to the card base front, using mowed lawn and twisted citron. I adhered a piece of acetate behind the die cut white frame, then stuck this down onto the card base to cover the window. On top of the acetate, I adhered the two die cut grid pieces.

For the inside of the card, I die cut a rectangle and added some clouds with the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil and tumbled glass distress oxide ink. I adhered this on the inside of the card, so it could be seen from the front.

I die cut one of the long rectangles, die cut from the grid, with a grassy edge border die, then blended on the same distress oxide blend of greens. I adhered this in the grid on the front of the card. I also added this colour blend to one of the squares, and used tumbled glass to add colour to the other two. I adhered all three into the grid on the front.

I stamped, coloured and die cut images from the MFT Sending a Smile stamp set, and adhered them to the front of the card. I also added a sentiment strip with a greeting from the same stamp set.

The acetate window gives a fun twist to the card, and by adding the panels in the front, there is still room to write a message inside without it being seen from the front.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Meow You Doin'?

Aren't these cats the cutest!

When I get a new stamp set, I usually stamp and colour lots of the images so I have some ready when I want to make a card with them. I used alcohol markers to colour the cats like my own, and chose three for this card.

I die cut the frame from the MFT Blueprints 27 die set, and cut it down so I had just the three squares in a strip. This set is unfortunately out of stock, but the MFT Stitched Collage Frame die is the perfect alternative.

I added some light grey ink to it to give the look of a photograph strip. I placed some foam tape behind and layered it at an angle on a white card base, trimming off the excess.

I added a cat in each square, with a mix of foam squares to match the frame depth, and liquid adhesive where they sat on the frame. I also gave them each an accessory.

Finally I added the wonderful greeting from the set to finish the card.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Ninjas in the City

Hello, Gemma here and I thought it would be fun to make a card featuring ninjas sneaking around a city at night.

I started with the background, blending ink on white card to make a sunset sky.

From black card, I cut the MFT Skyline, adding it over the top of the background. I cut a frame using MFT Blueprints 27 from dark blue card, then added them to an A2 white notecard. The Blueprints 27 die set is out of stock currently but I've found some great alternatives, which I've linked below.

I stamped two of the Mama Elephant Tiny Ninjas, adding colour with alcohol markers and wink of Stella glitter.

I cut a MFT Stitched Sentiment strip from the same dark blue cardstock, and white heat embossed a greeting from the ninja stamp set. I added the sentiment tag onto the card, then the ninjas with some foam adhesive.

I really enjoyed putting this card together and creating a scene for these Tiny Ninjas. Hope you like it.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma
