Art card with Zig pens and My Favorite Things

Hi everyone, it's Esther here with an art card inspired by the gorgeous coloured lines on this beautiful heart by the talented Kassa Heyselden.

I started with a plain rectangle of card stock and used four colours of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pen (034 Dull Blue, 082 Purple, 084 Deep Violet, and 092 Blue Gray) to add stripes, softening them with a water brush as I went. When I was finished, I spritzed the card with water and let the colour trickle down a bit more.

Using the medium size My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Word Window Dienamics, I cut away an aperture. A sentiment from Altenew Beautiful Quotes shows through.

Finally, I added three hearts from My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours Dienamics, mounted the panel onto a coordinating purple layer and attached the whole to a top folding card base.

That's it from me for this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Layered owl birthday card

Hi everyone, it's Esther here with a card featuring lots of layers and die cuts. The starting point, though, was the absolutely gorgeous stamp set, Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia.

When it arrived, I loved it so much that I stamped a panel on card stock in grey ink using all the stamps still adhered to their wrap so it looked like a paler version of the packaging. I cut it to size using the large rectangle from Avery Elle Pierced Banner Layer Elle-ments, currently out of stock but definitely one for your wishlist, and then held on to that panel for ages while I figured out how to use it!

I finally decided to create a layered card, and so I've made the card you see today.

The main products used for layers are My Favorite Things Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Dienamics (currently out of stock so use Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Circle Lawn Cuts instead), Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames, and the smaller rectangle inner from My Favorite Things Essential Cover Up Vertical Dienamic (it was the perfect size!).

The decorative elements are Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia, My Favorite Things Wild Greenery, My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours and matching dies, and a sentiment strip from My Favorite Things Blueprints 29.

This was a really fun card to make because it basically involved starting with a panel I loved and then going through my stash to see what dies I had that I could layer up with it. It was a really enjoyable process and I'd encourage you to go through your stash seeing what bits you've got that could work together for a new card.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you again tomorrow as I have an extra turn this week :)

Another Year Wiser

Hey stampers, Anni here!
I have a fun interactive card for you today featuring My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours set.

I kept the card pretty simple on the outside.

I stamped one of the owls and coloured it with grey alcohol markers. I fussy cut the owl (no fear, you don't have to, there are coordinating dies available) and added some three-dimensional gloss medium to the eyes to make them shiny.
For the background I first masked off a stripe on the bottom of my card base and ink blended some turquoise ink for the sky. Then I changed the masked to the top and added some grey ink to create a ground.

And then when you open the card a bunch of rainbow coloured owls pop up to wish the recipient a Happy Birthday!
To create the pop up effect I used Lawn Fawn's Every Day Pop Ups dies. They are currently out of stock in the shop but there are similar ones by My Favorite Things you can find here and here and by Mama Elephant. Those dies are easy to use and making these kind of cards simple.

(I'm sorry I had problems taking a good photo of the inside due to bad lightning that day)

For the inside of the card I stamped all the owls in the set and coloured them in rainbow order, fussy cut them and added some details with a white gel pen.

(I'm sorry I had a problem taking a good photo of the inside due to bad lightning that day)

The card took some time because I had to colour all these owls - no problem for me because I think colouring is the best part in making a card. But after I had finished the colouring the rest was easy and took no time at all.

Thanks for stopping by and have a sunny and craft weekend.

Owl birthday card with My Favorite Things

Hi everyone, it's Esther here with an owl birthday card using My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours stamp set.

I think these owls are the cutest I've seen, and this little chap is no exception.

I stamped a background using the medium and small hearts from I'm Owl Yours and coloured them in with alcohol pens. I die cut two irregular ovals using My Favorite Things Stitched Triple Peek-a-Boo Windows Dienamic, but keeping the centres for use and discarding the stitched negative outlines. I layered these up under my owl and adhered them to the panel. The sentiment was stamped on vellum, and this plus some die cut hearts were adhered over the owl grouping before popping the whole lot onto a Kraft card base.

The light for taking photos has been a nightmare the last few days with grey stormy weather and high winds... brrrrr! Hopefully you can see the hint of Wink of Stella Orange on the three die cut hearts. The orange is a fab colour for using over reds and yellows as it warms them up far better than the clear pen, but without being too obtrusive.

That's it for this week! Thanks for stopping by.

Owl birthday card using My Favorite Things

Hi everyone, it's Esther here with an owl birthday card using My Favorite Things. As soon as I saw the new set I'm Owl Yours, I had to have it! I'm always doodling owls, and these are so cute and will be perfect every time!

I inked some card creating an ombre pink effect, and then used the Moroccan Lattice stencil to add deep pink shading. I then used the Diagonal Sentiment Strip Cover Up Dienamics to cut a panel.

Using the I'm Owl Yours stamp set and the matching Dienamics, I stamped, coloured with alcohol markers and cut an owl and two sizes of heart, using a white pen to add highlight detail.

I cut numerous leaves using Wild Greenery and coloured them in two-tone shading with alcohol markers.

I then stamped and heat embossed in white a sentiment from I'm Owl Yours onto black card.

Finally, I added the panel to a card base and layered everything up until I was happy with the layout, then adhered the elements down using a mix of foam pads, wet glue and silicon glue for dimension.

That's it for today, and I hope you're inspired to take a look at those gorgeous little owls - perfect for birthdays, Valentines, anniversaries and thank you cards!
