Bright Ornaments And Trees Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Thursday!

Sometimes cards don't need sentiments. It's shocking, but true.

Although we normally feel that we need to add a sentiment to finish off a design, sometimes the actual design speaks for itself and feels 'finished' in its own right. And that has its advantages too - less thought about which sentiment suits a recipient, something that can double up as a card or tag or even a matching combo... sentiment-less card actually expands your possibilities rather than diminishing them.

I felt the cute little modern ornament and tree designs from the WPlus9 Holiday Trimmings stamp set were the perfect stamps to set an example:

Stunning, right?! I love how this turned out!

I used a multitude of bright but pastel-toned colours for my all-over card design. Doesn't this feel like it could be a high-end wrapping paper too?!

When you're using so many colours, you want to use something to 'anchor' your design. For me, that's what all the black details add - they just tie everything together and make the design pop!

A little flick of some iridescent silver glimmer mist and this baby is ready to hit the town!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Belle of the Bauble

Today I have another card to share using the WPlus9 Holiday Trimmings stamp set.

I was inspired by the cards I’d seen using this set, showing a row of baubles, but wanted to put my own spin on it. This card was simple to mass produce (I made 8 in one crafting session) so perfect for quickly making a batch of Christmas cards.

I did all the cards in stages, and started with the stamping. A stamp positioner is a big help for this part. Once I’d stamped all the baubles, I heat embossed in silver, the decorative elements. Then I added the sentiment in black ink.

Next, I cut down the stamped panels with the Lil’Inker Deco Edges. I did the same with some silver glitter card, layering behind the stamped panels before adhering to card bases. I kept the layers flat, so they’d go through the post easily.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Merry and Bright

I’m in full Christmas card crafting mode now! Seeing all the Christmas sets being released at the moment - the choice is fabulous!

I was so pleased when WPlus9 re-released the Holiday trimmings stamp set. I love the modern look and the beautifully written sentiments that they do so well.

I’ve gone with some non traditional Christmas colours for my card today. Using the 'merry & bright' sentiment as inspiration, I chose four bright colours of distress oxide ink.

I cut four stitched squares from white card and created a mask for each square, using the solid stamps in the set. I carefully blended the inks onto the squares, then removed the masks to see the white space underneath.

I then stamped, in the same inks, the decorative images in the set to add details to the negative spaces left on the card. This helps to create the illusion of trees and baubles.

I stamped the sentiment on the card base in black ink, then used foam tape to adhere the squares above.

I love the fun, modern look of using negative space and non-traditional colours. This was also easy to make so a perfect design to mass produce for Christmas.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma
