Three Small Steps, One Cosmic Card

Hello, I'm back for an extra day this week with a space themed birthday card.

My nephew turns 3 next month and has recently become fascinated with the planets of the solar system. A perfect opportunity for me to make him a space themed card!

Step 1 - the background
I began by creating a galaxy background for my card. I used distress inks and lots of white paint. It was a lot of fun to make!

I white heat embossed a greeting on the galaxy panel. The sentiments in the Lawn Fawn Out Of This World stamp set are brilliant!

Step 2 - the images
I stamped and coloured all the images from the Lawn Fawn Out Of This World stamp set. I fussy cut them out and added Wink of Stella clear glitter to all the planets, and glossy accents to the astronauts helmet and space rocket window.

I used some foam squares behind the rocket but everything else on the card is attached with liquid adhesive.

Step 3 - the slider
I used a die from the Lawn Fawn Slide On Over dies to create a slider element in my card. The die cut piece can be added to the card base to hide the slider better.

I added three layers of foam tape behind the panel, leaving space for a penny to move in the slider. I added two MFT slide discs to the penny for the slider mechanism. To keep things moving smoothly, I covered the edges of the foam with powder to stop the penny sticking, before adding the panel to a card base.

Before adding the astronaut to the slider, I attached some twine behind him, with the other end of the twine attached to the space rocket.

Three small steps, one cosmic card!

Thanks for joining me. Have a lovely day,
Gemma

This Much Love!

Hi there and happy Monday to you :)

I have a fun slider card to share with you today.... now I'm not a slushy person but this style of card is okay with me ;).....

It's bold and fun and uses the long doggy image in Waffleflower's On My Mark stamp set.
I used the matching die to cut out the dog and then concertina folded him to make a shorter version, the striped panel is made using and the solid line stamp in the same set to stamp a stripe pattern across the piece. I have used the smallest slider die from Lawn fawn to make the channel in the striped panel...

I attached the rear end of the dog to the card and then, using a Spin and Slide disc, I attached the nose of the dog to a strip of card through the channel aperture.

The sentiment is from the same Waffleflower set and I added a couple of arrows and a little heart to embellish the design..... it's a simple pull tab card and goes like this...

Hehe..... it works pretty well and makes me chuckle :)

Thanks for stopping by and see you next week :)

Surprise Celebration!

Hi its me again!   I've got a fun interactive card using the new Bella 2.0 range from Stamping Bella but with an added twist of lemon.......

I thought it would be fun having Cosmoabella popping up out of a cocktail glass (OK it's a Margarita glass not a cosmo one but we'll just call that artistic license)  I used the Slide on Over dies from Lawn Fawn to make her pop up like a surprise out of a giant cake (or glass in this case).

As she is a little longer (and wider) than the stem on the glass, I added a strip of lemon paper from the new Summer Party pad from Echo Park which co-ordinated with the lemon die cut (part of the Margarita die set) which I used to conceal her hand.   I used my new favourite background stamp to add a little interest to the background panel too - Scattered Surface - its a great subtle pattern for all kinds of cards.

The word pull was stamped using the Avery Elle mini alphabet stamp and my tip for keeping the pull bar straight is to add a couple of strips of card either side of the mechanism to keep it in place.  I used a small foam square to attach the bella to the strip through the slider bar.

Hope you give a "pop up suprise" card a go - the possibilities are endless!
