A Sharky Summer Pals Hello

Hello, Tallie here. I've been playing with one of the newest additions to the the Avery Elle Peek-a-boo sets - Summer Pals. These two little sharks (ignoring that one might just be a dolphin...) are eyeing each other up across the ocean!

I started out by ink blending on some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink onto some white card panels. I splattered these with water and then die cut them, first with a Stitched Rectangle and then with an Ocean Wave Border. I also blended another panel using Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon and cut this again with the Stitched Rectangle.

Onto some blending cardstock, I stamped out the two sharky friends along with their fins and coloured them in with my alcohol markers. I die cut these with the coordinating dies.

Using some fun foam, I adhered the waves in layers onto a white card base, adding the sharks in between the layers. I stamped out the 'HELLO' speech bubble sentiment from the set in some Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and followed this with some clear embossing powder to make it shiny.

A few clear sequins to represent the ocean spray finishes off the card nicely.

Is it safe to get back in the water yet?

Jill here, and this week I've got a....duh-nuh...duh-nuh...du-nu..du-nu..du-nu..du-nu...

...a terrifying vicious man-eating monster in the waters...or maybe not!

This guy, from Lawn Fawn's fabulous Duh-nuh mini set, is by far the sweetest looking shark I've ever seen...just look at that grin!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE these mini sets Lawn Fawn come out with.  They are just such great value for money and even if you don't use them as stand alone stamps, it's just so awesome to have them to stretch your other sets.  This Duh-nuh set, however, is more than capable of standing on it's own two feet especially when used in conjunction with the brilliant Ocean Wave Accent Dies from the same release.

I started by cutting a piece of card using Lawn Fawn's Cross-stitched Rectangles to create a frame and an inner panel to work on.  I then cut my inner panel several times using the Ocean Waves Accent Dies, also repeating the process with a piece of vellum.  I then ink blended a different colour blue over each section of wave, added texture with flicks of water, and pieced back together adding the vellum between layers for extra texture.  I then took the same blue inks I had used to blend, and flicked them across my frame to add some interest.

I then stamped out all them elements from the Duh-nuh mini set and clear heat embossed them to give me a solid line to water colour within.

I then coloured all my pieces using Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Pens with water and fussy-cut leaving a thin white line to imitate the look of matching dies (which are available - I just don't have them).

I stamped my sentiment out onto one of the sections of vellum I cut earlier and heat embossed in white powder, adhering back over my inked panels using the teeniest bit of wet glue so it barely shows through the vellum.

I then built up my scene over my panel using foam tape and wet glue, tucking my sweet shark under a vellum wave to give the look of him gliding through the ocean.

I finished by mounting my piece onto a white card blank and there you have it. 

The sweetest predator in the sea :)
