Big Bithday Wishes

Hey stampers, Anni here!

I have the feeling that this summer the companies came up with extra cute summer sets and I want to use all of them that I bought before summer is over! Although I think nothing is wrong with a summer card in winter when we need it the most, isn't it?
And I can't think about Christmas cards yet although I love to make them and all these super cute new Christmas sets are keep popping up. But it's still very warm in Germany and as long as the weather is good I keep making summer cards.
So today I have this card for you featuring Mama Elephant's Summer Splash.

I started by stamping all the images I wanted to use and coloured them with coloured pencils. To cut them out you can get coordinating dies.

To create the background I teared a piece of masking paper to get a rough edge. I used both parts of the torn piece, one to mask off the sky, the other for the beach. I added ink blending in beige/yellow for the beach and a mix of pinks and lilacs for the sky. At first I went with shades of turquoise for the sky but the elephant got lost on it wearing a turquoise swimsuit. So I decided to start a new background in different colours.

I die cut the background using the big frame from Mama Elephant's Framed Tags Madison Avenue. I thought I would use the frame as well but decided that it took too much attention from the scene. So I used only the inner part.

Again to tone down the background I added a layer of vellum. I die cut a circle using My Favorite Things' Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Window as it had just the right size.

For the sentiment I chose one of Mama Elephant's Birthday Messages. I stamped it with Versamark on a stripe of matching cardstock and heat embossed it in white. And that finished up my card.

Are you still in summer card mode or are you preparing for Christmas or Halloween cards? Let me know.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.

A Birthday Card and a Very Special Voucher

Hey stampers, Anni here!

A colleague asked me to make a birthday card for his daughter! She had a very special wish: She wanted a voucher for a dental prophylaxis. So I had to make a card for this special request.

Fortunately I found a little tooth in Mama Elephant’s Little Fairy Agenda set. That gave me the idea that one of Mama Elephant’s Three Amigos could show this tooth on his sign. I started by stamping the raccoon and the cat from the set in a very light ink because I wanted to do some no line colouring. The Happy Birthday I stamped in black on the other sign.

To get more of a birthday feeling I also stamped some balloons from Mama Elephant's The Birthday Bash and a cupcake from Mama Elephant’s Carnival Cupcakes. I coloured the images by pressing Distress Ink pads onto a acryl block and watercolouring with this colour palette.
For all of these sets you can find coordinating dies in the shop.

For the background I took a piece of white cardstock and added a little bit of very soft ink blending through Newton’s Nook’s Bokeh Stencil Set
To give this scene a frame I die cut Mama Elephant’s Framed Tags Madison Avenue and adhered it with dimensional adhesive. That finished up my card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.

For a Beary Special Friend

Hey stampers, Anni here!

You know the saying Crafty Friends Are the Best - and it is totally true. I needed a Thank You card for a very special and kind friend I met through my crafty hobby - I just love how you can connect over stamping and make real good friends.

I started this card by stamping these super cute pandas from Reverse Confetti's Miso Happy. It took no time at all to color the panda bears - always a plus with pandas and other black and white creatures like penguins and ninjas for example. I just added a little bit of cool grey for shadows to the white parts and some pinks for the cheeks. Then I drew some white highlights with a white gel pen.
To create a little scene I also stamped the bamboos and the stones and coloured them with alcohol markers, too.

For the hill the pandas standing on I die cut a piece of cardstock with one of the dies of Mama Elephant's Borderline Trios and added some ink blending in green. I also stamped a sentiment from the Miso Happy set on it. The sky I created by ink blending, too.

I wanted to add the word Thanks, too. The die set Many Thanks by Concord & 9th is perfect for that. It is so versatile and you get a lot of possiblities for your money. I die cut the speech bubble from green cardstock matching my hill and the letters from black cardstock to go with the pandas.

Finally the whole scene was framed with a die cut cut with Mama Elephant's Framed Tags.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.

Magic Flower Border

Hey stampers, Anni here!
I was inspired by the colour challenge for this month and decided to go for another colour combo for today's card. There are three colour combos to choose from and I love the one with aqua, turquoise and lime green, don't you?

I thought these colours would be perfect for a masculine card (I never have enough male cards in my stash) but I'm not quite sure if my card will go as a masculine card.

I started by die cutting Waffle Flower's Magic Flower Border from white paper. For the colouring I chose alcohol markers and went with the colours from the inspiration photo.
And I went on with the die cutting and used the Framed Tags Madison Avenue by Mama Elephant for the frame. I die cut it from a shimmery cardstock to add a little bit of intrest.
I did just a little bit of stamping on this card and that was for the sentiment. I took the Happy Birthday from My Favourite Things' Label Maker Sentiments and stamped it on white cardstock with Versamark and embossed it in lime green. For the finishing touch I added some sequins

So, what do you say? Sequins and flowers for a masculine card? Would you give this card to a man?
Thanks for stopping by and letting me know!
