Carousel

The carousel has always been my favourite funfair ride, so the Altenew Carousel stamp set caught my eye. It's a really sweet mini set, perfect for scrapbooking but also looks great on a card, and is sure to make someone smile.

I started by stamping the carousel image on to white card in black versafine ink. I then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. You could use versamark ink and a black embossing powder to achieve the same effect.

I also added an embossed sentiment from the Altenew Celebrate stamp set, which is a mini sentiment set. It has some lovely greetings.

I used colouring pencils to add a sunset sky behind the carousel. I like the soft effect of the pencils. Try Zig Clean Colour pens or ink blending for a different look.

To make this into a card, I cut it down with a stitched rectangle die, layered onto a black rectangle, then adhered to a white card base. The black border really helps the image pop on the card.

Have a lovely day,
Gemma

Party Lights

My card today features a string of white lights, perfect for a New Years party.

On dark blue card stock, I white heat embossed the bunting string and lights from the Avery Elle Bunting stamp set.

To create the illusion that the lights continue in the background, I stamped three sizes of circles from the same set in white pigment ink for a bokeh effect.

To create some more interest on the card, I die cut it with the MFT Inside/Out Stitched Rectangle die-namics. I used foam tape behind the frame to add dimension.

I added a white heat embossed sentiment, also from the bunting set, then adhered the rectangle flat on to the card base. A sprinkling of clear sequins add some sparkle to finish.

Thanks for joining me today. I'll be back on the blog again in the new year. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Stacking Cups!

Hello there :)

Yep... it's a total coincidence that I'm following Tara's cute panda stack yesterday with another one...... mine are colourful cups though, I suppose you could say the tenuous link is China *groan* ;)

I'm back using a DL card base and I've used Avery Elle's Tea Time stamp set and Tea Time Elle-ments dies along with lots of pretty coloured patterned paper to make my cup stack. I've stamped and die cut the two styles of cup on white card and then stamped the cups again on patterned papers before trimming them out, great technique for using those small scraps up.

I varied the areas I trimmed in patterned paper... I had plans to colour the handles with pencils but decided against it in the end. To stack them, I cut a slit in each cup and just tucked them into each other and secured with glue.
To make the long narrow aperture I used an inside and out stitched rectangle die and partially cut the first rectangle before sliding the die along and passing through the bigshot again to make the longer aperture... I love the way the cups sit in front of the frame :)

I loved picking out patterned papers to use for these, you can be as creative as you want but if paper piecing isn't your thing you could always use the decorative elements in the set to stamp your own patterns and colour the cups yourself :)

Thanks for stopping by
