My Favorite Things Fancy Flowers and friendship
Hi everyone, it's Esther here. After the trauma of trying to find or make an envelope to fit last week's very long card, I returned to a plain ol' rectangle this time!
I started with a panel of card stock and cut it to size. I then inked a corner with water-based dye ink and splattered that heavily with water to bleach it for a patterned effect.
Next I stamped three flowers and stems from My Favorite Things Fancy Flowers, and coloured them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.
I stamped a sentiment from My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies, and then die cut a stitched frame using Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames. I popped this up on a matching frame of foam tape.
After that, it was quick and easy to assemble the various parts on to a top folding card base. It was even easier to find a suitably sized envelope!
That's it from me - see you next week!

From Meow To You - cat card with a surprise!
Hi everyone, it's Esther here to show you a cat card with a surprise using My Favorite Things Cool Cat!
This design works best with a side fold card base rather than top fold, because the surprise is the miniature ball of wool, and you want that to hang straight down.
On my card base, I positioned and stamped a sentiment from My Favorite Things Cool Cat.
I layered a panel die cut with Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles and stamped with the paw print from MFT Cool Cat with a frame made from three layers of fun foam and a layer of grey card stock die cut with Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames.
I stamped, coloured with alcohol markers and die cut with the matching dies a cat, cat bed and food bowl from MFT Cool Cat and adhered them to the panel and frames.
Finally, I made a miniature ball of wool, used a needle to thread its tail end through a small gap in the fun foam layers of the frame, and adhered the end securely on the back of the panel. The entire panel was then stuck to the card base.
That's it from me this week - thanks for looking!

Sea life card - have a "fintastic" birthday!
Hi everyone, it's Esther here with a sea life card using Paper Smooches Briny Blue stamps. This is such a fun set with its cartoon feel and goggle-eyed fish!
I wanted to make a really dimensional card, so the elements in the card not directly on the base are raised on 1, 2 or 3 foam pads to create depth.
The ocean was created with water based dye ink, splattered with water and mopped up, and then splattered again with dark blue at the bottom and white at the top.
The layered frames are Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames, three deep with foam pads between. The sea creatures are coloured with alcohol markers. The sentiment is stamped onto one of the flag shapes from My Favorite Things Blueprints 29.
That's all from me for today. Thanks for looking!

Layered owl birthday card
Hi everyone, it's Esther here with a card featuring lots of layers and die cuts. The starting point, though, was the absolutely gorgeous stamp set, Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia.
When it arrived, I loved it so much that I stamped a panel on card stock in grey ink using all the stamps still adhered to their wrap so it looked like a paler version of the packaging. I cut it to size using the large rectangle from Avery Elle Pierced Banner Layer Elle-ments, currently out of stock but definitely one for your wishlist, and then held on to that panel for ages while I figured out how to use it!
I finally decided to create a layered card, and so I've made the card you see today.
The main products used for layers are My Favorite Things Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Dienamics (currently out of stock so use Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Circle Lawn Cuts instead), Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames, and the smaller rectangle inner from My Favorite Things Essential Cover Up Vertical Dienamic (it was the perfect size!).
The decorative elements are Hero Arts Garden Flowers by Lia, My Favorite Things Wild Greenery, My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours and matching dies, and a sentiment strip from My Favorite Things Blueprints 29.
This was a really fun card to make because it basically involved starting with a panel I loved and then going through my stash to see what dies I had that I could layer up with it. It was a really enjoyable process and I'd encourage you to go through your stash seeing what bits you've got that could work together for a new card.
Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you again tomorrow as I have an extra turn this week :)

Ombre floral extravaganza with My Favorite Things
Hi everyone, it's Esther here with a card that's filled with flowers! Yes, this was a labour of love to make but I think the finished effect is worth it.
The card is made from a panel inked into pink and peach ombre from which I then die cut a frame using the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames. I also die cut another 5 frames from plain white card.
I then die cut the word "hugs" from the middle of the panel using My Favorite Things Big Hugs. I also die cut another 5 "hugs" from plain white card.
The frames, panel and "hugs" were all layered up onto a card base.
The time consuming bit comes next... I inked several scrap panels of card into the same pink and peach ombre and let them dry. I then die cut multiple copies of two of the My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers, making sure I had enough in just pink and just peach to fill the wider top and bottom strips of the card.
Each flower was then shaped to lift the petals with a ball tool on a foam mat.
I then arranged them loose on the card to check the placement and colour gradation was correct, before gluing them each down using tweezers and wet glue.
I love that the flowers on top match the ombre shading of the base layer!
Finally, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies onto black card, trimmed it to size and popped it over the bottom of the "hugs" letters. You could use any sentiment you like, though.
That's it for today folks - have a great week and I'll see you again next Wednesday :)

Fun Christmas card with My Favorite Things Strike Up The Band
Hi everyone, it's Esther here for our last post before we break up for Christmas. I needed one final card for a friend and their family, and I wanted it to feel really festive and fun. My Favorite Things Strike Up The Band is perfect for this!
I started with a heavyweight card stock base, and layered up a panel of My Favorite Things Trail Mix paper in a festive green chevron pattern. Next was a panel of red card stock with lots of images from My Favorite Things Strike Up The Band heat embossed in white. I also inked the edges of this panel in a darker red to add intensity.
For embellishments, I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frame die cut from the same red card stock, and went over the stitching with a white pen to make it pop. The 'happy' is the Altenew Happy Die which I cut in white fun foam and then again from the Trail Mix pad before gluing both together. I stamped and white heat embossed 'Christmas' from the end of a longer sentiment in My Favorite Things Merry Everything onto a snippet of green card and gave it a stitched edge. Finally that fun bunny is stamped and die cut from My Favorite Things Strike Up The Band stamp set and matching Dienamics, and coloured with Promarkers.
So that's it for today, but as Tara mentioned we'll have a series of "favourite things" posts starting on Boxing Day until the blog re-opens properly in the New Year. Have a lovely Christmas, and we all hope you have a very happy and fulfilling 2017! Thanks for stopping by :)
