I've got a quick faux water colour card for you today. I've had this idea in my head for ages, for a simple sympathy card using pine trees reflected in water, but it turned out to be better in my head than on paper, but I'm sure you can take my idea and run with it!
I started with a piece of water colour card stock and gently inked a couple of shades of light blue - one for sky and one for water. I then stamped the trees from Whispering Pines by Newton's Nook first in teal ink and then over stamping in dark green. With both ink colours I flipped the stamp upside down to do second generation stamping for the reflection in the water. I then used the dark green ink with a water brush to create a bit of land in between and added some brown detail with a pencil. I used a darker blue ink picked up off the back of an acrylic block spritz with water with a wide paint brush to create a "drag effect" over the reflections - that's where I went a bit wrong, and I was going to start again but I decided to share my imperfections with you to show we all make them! I had to over stamp the trees again gently to bring them back to life.
I added one of the gorgeous sentiments from My Favorite Things Deepest Sympathy set - its brilliant for those times when you just have no words to offer comfort - we all have to make those cards sometimes unfortunately so this was a must have set for me.

NEWS FROM THE STORE
- The Stamping Bella release is finally online today after numerous delays. https://sevenhillscrafts.co.uk/brands/stamping-bella.html?limit=all
- We will be getting a small restock delivery of Hero Arts this week - the new items are on order but we had to get the UK distributor to add some additional items that were missing from their offering so we need to go back and get those once they have uploaded them. They are expected into the UK in mid-February but Hero Arts can be very hit and miss with what actually turns up.
- We think we will be getting some new Echo Park items this week too but again aren't sure exactly what is coming until it turns up.
- The new release from Altenew was finally opened to retailers on Friday and our order went straight in. This includes the markers, the new inks and new stamps that were shown at CHA. Again we expect to receive those in around 2-3 weeks depending on their shipping schedule as they are currently in Germany. The 3 layer dies that were shown at CHA are not going to be released until April.
- I know many of you spotted the new pearly colours of gansai tambi paints from Kuretake - we know they have a whole new range of products coming soon and will order them as soon as they are available but I believe it could be April before they hit the UK.
- There are new releases coming from Neat and Tangled, MFT, Wplus9 and Avery Elle in early February and from Mama Elephant, Lil' Inker Designs and Lawn Fawn in mid-late February too.
I really like the rippled watercolour effect of the reflected trees! Think you're being too harsh on this lovely card <3 It's got a very tranquil, peaceful feel which is perfect for a sympathy card. Exciting product updates! Looking forward to abusing the bank account soon lol :D
